This is the album that probably more than any other is tied to my childhood, with the van trips in the Dolomites and the tape that played on repeat. Well, fifteen years later, I continue to give it the same importance.
Probably "In ogni senso" encapsulates all the styles and nuances that Italian music has brought out over the span of fifty years. From the soul of the magnificent "Se bastasse una canzone", to the lightness of "Amarti è l'immenso per me"; from the reggae of "Cara prof" to the rock of "Taxi story" and the jazz of "Andare... in ogni senso". What more could you ask from an artist who, over a twenty-year career, has sold 40 million albums worldwide? Additionally, Eros has extraordinary vocal mastery: you can love it or hate it, but the talent is indisputable.
The lyrics are direct as usual, but even more mature compared to previous albums. They talk about the "dispossessed of all ages, people belonging to no one, with no identity"; or about the "melancholies of our fathers in search of lost energies and friendships that one never sees." Personally, I believe this is Eros' best work or perhaps the most complete one. An interesting fact: the phrase "in every sense" is present in every track of the album.
The cover photo with the various characters featured in the songs is beautiful and unique. To listen to and to love. Key songs: "Se bastasse una canzone"; "C'è una strada in cielo"; "Dolce Barbara"; "Cara prof"; "Cantico."
