This is my second review and I want to dedicate it again to Eric Clapton.
In the first instance (review of "Slowhand"), I was too harsh in my commentary on the album, and many criticized me for focusing solely on disparaging it.
Now I will formulate a critique, as constructive as possible, and I would like to do it with all of you. In this case, we're talking about a live (2 CD) recorded in 2001.
The setlist is very varied and covers almost all of Clapton's musical periods: among the pieces re-proposed, I would especially mention the two great Cream classics "Badge" and "Sunshine of Your Love," the beautiful "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Layla," Willie Dixon's blues "Coochie Coochie Man," and the recent "Got You on My Mind" and "Reptile."
The overall performance, however, doesn't particularly shine, perhaps also due to the presence of tracks like "My Father's Eyes," "Wonderful Tonight," and "River of Tears," which, frankly, are several steps down from the ones mentioned above.
Technically, Clapton still offers us good solos and generally good interpretations, but it is, in my opinion, especially the lack of creative and more engaging ideas that fails to make this live take off, although it's pleasant on the whole.
