Indeed, becoming passionate about the noble and splendid art of writing is not a given. But it is surprising when novels are published by a retired Italian teacher who already has three novels to his name, namely Tra le pieghe della vita, published in 2001 by the Florentine publishing house L'Autore Libri, L'ultima estate (which for now is my favorite novel) and Inganni del cuore, the latter two published by Este Edition, in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
Four years after his third novel, Professor Enrico Stabellini presents us with his new novel: Il labirinto della coscienza. Lo strano caso del signor Kurt, published by Faust Edition. It will be presented on February 23, so as soon as I have read the book, I will be able to talk about it properly and review it for you. But for now, I can only say that the title makes it absolutely clear that this latest book by Prof. Stabellini deals with the analysis of the psychological dynamics of a person who has pain in the right shoulder due to a somatization disorder, which forces him to take an unpaid leave to be treated. And after consulting various specialists and realizing that there is actually nothing serious or important, he has no choice but to resort to psychoanalytic therapy. This therapy, however, is carried out in the worst way possible, as Kurt, who goes to the psychoanalyst reluctantly, ends up openly challenging the therapist Herta Benn. Everything proceeds in this way until the house of cards comes crashing down on him.
Professor Stabellini's writing is very light and makes us feel how passionate the author is about the story and art in general.
