The smoking crap of The Final Frontier by Iron Maiden has just been released, and already, whether we like it or not, a worldwide uproar is simmering between those who defend it, claiming that it's still a good album, and those, like me, who would use the CD as a frisbee. But the question I ask myself is: why create such a stir around an album that objectively doesn't surpass mediocrity, when there are so many musical gems buried in the underground that are completely ignored??

"Into the Night" is actually one of these gems... Pure '80s heavy metal (Iron Maiden, THE REAL ONES, DI'ANNO era and Judas Priest above all) with venomous vocals, gut-wrenching double bass drum, and rock 'n' roll riffs played at supersonic speed. The album in question is also very varied, indeed it constantly moves from purely heavy sounds to almost thrash speed metal (AGENT STEEL!!!!), yet without ever straying too far stylistically and remaining incredibly compact.

It begins with "Black Angel" (a video clip was shot for this song), just listen to the first 20 seconds of this song to understand what's coming... It then moves to "Mistress Of Hell", which, according to the writer, is the most inspired track of the entire lineup, and continues in a tunnel of blazing solos, choruses that can only be sung if you're castrated, and lots and lots of headbanging... It has to be admitted that the bassist's style is really too similar (if not identical) to that of Steve Harris, so much so that sometimes it seems it's him playing with the band... Try listening to "City Lights" to believe it (by the way, it's the instrumental track of the album, a true masterpiece of sublime intensity rarely achieved by other more experienced bands).

It's noteworthy that the enforcers are really young, having been active only since 2004 and have already crafted a masterpiece of such proportions (unfortunately, the new album "Diamonds" is slightly inferior to this one), and they are slowly gaining the deserved notoriety, appearing on the cover of Kerrang! and embarking on a tour with Blind Guardian. In conclusion, if you love albums like "Killers," "Defenders Of The Faith," and "Skeptics Apocalypse," your ears will immensely enjoy "Into The Night".
