THE REVIEW

"Emperor" and "Wrath Of The Tyrant": black stars, magnificent in their gleaming darkness, have always belonged to a single, dark constellation, but to see their grim power encapsulated in a single EP is a near-mystical experience.

The four tracks that had opened the Demonic Ride (as described in the review of "Emperor") find their impetuous course and their natural evolution in the notes of "Wrath Of The Tyrant".
A haunting, ancestral opener in its majesty introduces the "Traveler" to a hidden landscape, a memory of secret ages, where the Dance of Death and Time is interspersed with the crescendos of violence and despair of "Forgotten Centuries", where it is not so much the keyboards that create an evil and anxious aura, but the feral guitar solos... "Moon Over Kara-Sher" is a vortex of shadows and sands of dark deserts, sharply contrasting with the nocturnal visions of "Witches Sabbath," morbid and delirious in their fury.
"Lords Of The Storms," a tribute to traditional Scandinavian rage, offers an angry Faust, domineering over a merely hinted melody. The reworking of "Night Of The Graveless Souls" and "Wrath Of The Tyrant" offers a more mature Ihsahn, who decorates his suffering scream with growl peaks, inflamed and feverish. However, the voice becomes more distant, narrating, almost infernally fairy-tale-like... as the Darkness descends, the air becomes increasingly heavy... the Eclipse has begun...

"He is in the wind, He is in the storm He is inthe woods, He is in the rooots Nobody will escape the wrath of the Tyrant Forever the Beast shall wander the Earth..."

The first cry of the dark creature shook the entire continent with its load of innovation.

Growl and scream merge into a chilling vocalization, a fine instrument of spiritual torture.
