Here we are talking about Eisen, a Thrash/Death Metal band from Brescia that presents all the extreme genre enthusiasts with their first demo, "Sound Of Death". A well-made demo, well recorded and with excellent musical proposals. But let's take it step by step.
The demo opens with an intro (21-64) that foretells the following song (Hate), which remains one of the best tracks on the entire CD. Fast, rapid, and simply devastating. Tito Listorti (vocals) kicks things off with a growl that strongly recalls the early Vomitory or all that Brutal scene which, mixed with the purely Thrash attacks of the two guitarists (Federico Corallini and Davide Ognibegni), makes it all compact. A sound wall of a certain level. The demo proposed by the band from Brescia would already be great at the end of the second song, but the most interesting part is yet to come. The following "Blood From The Sky" is a song that reflects the melodic soul of the band. A cadential start that picks up the pace with an excellent recovery, thanks also to the qualities of Marco Tacchini on drums, a true beast behind the kit. After this moment of apparent calm (if you can call it that), Eisen offers what I consider to be the best of the entire demo. "Nightmare" is a song that is complete in every respect, melodic at the right moments, fast, and solid with a truly excellent performance from our band. A song that gives the expected impact in concert. A wonderful song! "Eisen" and "Lapidaria" are two songs that in some aspects go hand in hand. Both have the same starting line but with distinctly different cadences. In the "first", you find Thrash waves à la Destruction or influences à la In The Mourning while in the second (Lapidaria), the Brescians revisit their melodic vein that always manages to engage the listener and keep them glued to the speakers. The closing is left to the ruthless "Sound Of Death" where the notes only incite the most unrestrained headbanging. A great style closure.
In short, a debut to be fully rewarded, both for the truly excellent performance, a production certainly of appreciable level, compact and devastating music. A good demo for all those skeptics who consider the Italian extreme underground dead and buried for a long time… apparently, they are wrong.
Recommended to all extreme lovers.
