LA RECENSIONE

Eidolon - Nightmare World
2000 Metal Blade

This record may not be known to many, but it is quite a remarkable product.
It dates back to 2000 and was released by Metal Blade Records, the historic American metal label.
Personally, I found this release noteworthy in the global metal scene.
Perhaps the only flaw lies in the vocals, a good singer mind you, but in my opinion with a timbre
that is not too powerful.
In fact, the tracks are very heavy and intense, in power thrash metal style, and in my judgment, they would
have benefited more from a more aggressive vocal style.
However, all in all, it's a great record.
On guitar is Glen Drover, the main composer along with his brother Shawn on drums.
The album kicks off with the first track, the title track Nightmare World, a true heavy onslaught that makes no prisoners.
An unsettling arpeggio serves as an introduction to Noctem Aeternus, a more paced track, yet still very metal.
The third song, Lunar Mission, is beautiful, a more classic metal track, with a good chorus that gets stuck in your head.
Eye of Illusion and Repulsion are solid tracks with a lot of groove.
Majestic Interlude features Glen on acoustic guitar, delighting us with his mastery.
Fortress of Red and Glorified Suicide return to hit hard, after the acoustic moment.
Glen's solo interventions on guitar are targeted and effective, with a sharp and aggressive sound.
The drum sound seems triggered to me, but Shawn's performance is excellent, I think it was a
deliberate choice to make the album's production very modern.
We reach the last song, Dreamscape, truly effective with atmosphere, groove, and speed that perfectly condense
into a heavy track, where the vocals fit suitably.
The singer is good, but I would have preferred a different timbre, this is my feeling.
To conclude, a great heavy metal album, solid and sharp, for every self-respecting metalhead.
