What immediately strikes you, upon the first listen of these electronic compositions, is the sound which is often categorized as electro-ambient, although this definition seems a bit too reductive to me; I would rather call it 'Orbit-sound'.

But what surprised me the most was the release date of this album: 1993! I thought it had been produced in the twenty-first century!

The reviewer praises William Orbit's 1993 album Strange Cargo III as a groundbreaking electro-ambient work that surprised them with its timeless sound. Highlighting tracks like 'Water From a Vine Leaf' featuring Beth Orton and others, they emphasize the album's experimental and ethnic influences. The album is recognized as the source of the iconic sound heard later on Madonna's Ray of Light. Overall, it is described as a beautiful and innovative collection of electronic music. Listen now to Strange Cargo III and experience William Orbit's pioneering electro-ambient sound!
