Listening to a Soundgarden album where the guitar is so in the background was the first bitter surprise. Apart from an interlude of songs that made me hope, I am left not so much with the impression of a bad album but rather one that is pitifully boring.

Soundgarden's comeback album 'King Animal' falls short of expectations with a muddy sound and weak guitar presence. While a few tracks show promise, overall the album is boring and lacks the band's traditional energy. The production and some songwriting choices leave much to be desired, making the record feel closer to a Chris Cornell solo album than a true Soundgarden release.
