Butterfly House is perhaps one of the best indie albums of 2010.

It’s difficult to name titles, however, it’s impossible not to mention the excellent chorus of More Than A Lover or the subsequent Roving Jewel.

Butterfly House by The Coral is hailed as one of the best indie albums of 2010, showing significant maturity with melancholic moods and refined vocals. Featuring influences from the sixties and seventies, the album combines psychedelia and folk with rich instrumentation. Standout tracks include 'More Than A Lover,' 'Roving Jewel,' and the title track. The review praises the album's emotional depth and compositional skill while acknowledging its derivative inspirations. Listen to The Coral’s Butterfly House and experience a timeless indie journey rich with emotion and craft.

Truly exquisite songwriting, painstaking refinement, Ghost consists of a group of really good songs, taken one by one.

Because the melodies are too soft and the atmospheres too expansive, to the point of inducing drowsiness, or worse, to the point of boring the listener and their bored self.

The Devin Townsend Project's Ghost is a melodic departure featuring ballads without growls or distortion, highlighting Townsend's songwriting talents. While individual songs shine with exquisite melodies and peaceful atmospheres, the album's 72-minute length and repetitive softness can make it exhausting. The review praises the potential of most tracks but notes that the overall experience is hindered by excessive runtime and overly expansive atmospheres. Ghost stands as a solid effort but feels overwhelming when consumed in one sitting. Discover the beautiful, melodic side of Devin Townsend Project with Ghost—listen now and experience its unique atmospheres.

Seven, with its eleven songs, is a surprising work, from the first to the last note.

Don’t Wait That Long, probably the absolute peak of the entire album, six minutes of pure emotion, six minutes that warm the soul.

James' album 'Seven' stands out as a creative peak for the Manchester band, bridging their Smiths-influenced past with a broader pop/rock appeal. Praised for its timeless tracks and innovative use of trumpets, it remains a top 90s British pop/rock album. Key songs like 'Born Of Frustration' and 'Don’t Wait That Long' exemplify its emotional depth and musical craftsmanship. Listen to James' 'Seven' today and experience one of the finest British pop/rock albums of the 1990s.

"Pleased To Meet You is one of their best works, perhaps the best together with Seven."

"James seem to have taken to heart the maxim that the best time to leave is when one has reached the peak."

This review marks the start of a personal retrospective on James, highlighting 'Pleased To Meet You' as one of their finest albums. The record captures the essence of the band's evolution within the Manchester scene, showcasing inspired songwriting and diverse sounds across 13 tracks. The reviewer underscores the band’s reliability and artistic consistency compared to peers. Ultimately, the album is praised as a powerful closing chapter to over 15 years of creative output. Explore the rich sounds of James' 'Pleased To Meet You'—a must-listen album from a Manchester legend!

This novel by the Swedish author Lindqvist seems to tell us [there are] various ways to recycle [horror clichés].

The infinite number of perspectives from which the story is framed... creates incredible suspense.

Let the Right One In breaks horror clichés by mixing a vampire love story with real social issues in 1980s Sweden. Featuring child protagonists and multiple viewpoints, the novel offers depth and suspense. Lindqvist’s personal connection to the setting and crimes enriches the narrative. The prose is engaging, with literary and musical references, and the story ends openly, inviting reflection. Dive into Let the Right One In – explore this haunting Swedish vampire novel that blends horror with tender storytelling and social depth.

Air follows the line of the Gathering’s later albums, especially Home; however, the music is much more sparse, showing that the band behind the singer is, unfortunately, of quite a different caliber.

The real cherry on top is Sunken Soldiers Ball. A cover, yet the only piece truly filled with pathos and drama, a small gem that inevitably stands out in a collection perhaps a bit too uniform.

Anneke Van Giersbergen's debut album "Air" with Agua De Annique presents a collection of sparse, atmospheric songs centered on her distinctive voice. While it maintains some stylistic connections to her former band The Gathering, the overall impact feels more uniform and less compelling. Though a promising start with moments like the emotive cover "Sunken Soldiers Ball," the album sometimes lacks the depth and tension found in her earlier work. A good effort that hints at future growth. Listen to Agua De Annique’s debut album "Air" to experience Anneke Van Giersbergen’s heartfelt and atmospheric new musical journey.

This In A Perfect World is a record full of verve, spontaneous, engaging, and not at all difficult to listen to.

Simply put, the musicians themselves are having fun, even before the listener.

Karmakanic's 'In A Perfect World' showcases a mature progressive rock sound built over years of evolution. The album balances virtuosic musicianship with fresh and engaging compositions. Highlights include strong vocal performances and inventive tracks blending prog with diverse influences. The album confirms Karmakanic's status beyond a side project, delivering nearly an hour of memorable music. Listen to Karmakanic's 'In A Perfect World' and experience one of modern prog rock's finest creations!

What emerges is another album of undeniable charm and musical value, but it also results in a work not too inspired compositionally.

More than one thought that Andreas Hedlund’s vocals were experiencing a decline, and these impressions would be confirmed by the subsequent Borknagar album, Universal.

Vintersorg’s Solens rötter marks a return to acoustic folk and Viking metal roots with orchestral flourishes and clearer production. The album has undeniable charm but lacks consistent inspiration compared to previous works. Particularly strong tracks include the opener 'Döpt I En Jokelsjö' and 'Från Materia Till Ande.' While some ideas shine, sporadic growls disrupt the flow, and the album feels somewhat constrained by Vintersorg's heavy workload during this period. Discover the roots of Vintersorg's unique sound—listen to Solens rötter and explore its folk metal charm today!

"The Focusing Blur is a unique, intricate, schizoid, and genius album."

Curtains is indescribable, mixing black metal with odd choruses reminiscent of Dresden Dolls and Arcturus.

Featuring complex layers and diverse vocal styles, it challenges listeners but offers a fascinating, richly textured experience.  If I had to choose 100 ALBUMS to send into space, I would have no doubts, Cosmic Genesis would be there.

Cosmic Genesis manages to encompass in its 50 minutes all the metal knowledge since metal is metal.

Vintersorg's Cosmic Genesis marks a significant evolution from previous folk metal styles into a sophisticated blend of prog, black metal, and seventies hard rock. The album features complex arrangements with layered vocals and cosmic-themed lyrics referencing philosophy and astronomy. Praised for its modern sound and seamless genre fusion, Cosmic Genesis is considered a masterpiece demanding greater recognition. It's a versatile work showcasing metal's broad scope, making it a must-listen for fans of innovative metal. Listen to Vintersorg's Cosmic Genesis and experience a groundbreaking fusion of prog, metal, and cosmic storytelling.
