If the union of the two bands would lead to the result of "The Great Escape Artist," perhaps it’s better that they remain separate.

Navarro appears a bit anonymous and perhaps devoid of ideas; definitely the album is a step back compared to "Strays."

The Great Escape Artist by Jane's Addiction offers a blend of psychedelic and pop influences but falls short of the band's iconic sound from earlier decades. While some tracks like "Underground" and "Irresistible Force" show promise, many songs lean too much toward predictable pop. Dave Navarro’s contributions are limited and less inspired, making the album a less impressive follow-up to Strays. Overall, it's listenable but lacks the depth and edge longtime fans might expect. Discover the highs and lows of Jane's Addiction's The Great Escape Artist—listen and decide if it lives up to the legacy.

"Josh makes himself heard and shows he is not a clone of Frusciante, avoiding excessive virtuosity and instead using sharp, at times psychedelic riffs."

"Some songs aren’t suited to [Anthony's] vocal range and it will be quite evident live."

RHCP returns after five years with "I'm With You," showcasing new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer's psychedelic style and some standout tracks like "Factory Of Faith." While the album contains enjoyable moments and strong performances, especially from Flea and Chad Smith, it leans toward pop-inspired songs reminiscent of their less favored periods. The album scores a moderate 6.5, appealing to newer fans but unlikely to match the classics. Listen to RHCP's "I'm With You" to explore their evolving style and decide if the new sound resonates with you!
