Years ago, when my intense passion for Tom Waits' music was starting to wane and the one for the Flaming Lips was beginning, I was enchanted by them; I considered it a bit of a bridge. The smoky atmospheres of the man from Pomona were all present in their songs, and those same songs were produced by Dave Fridmann, a loyal arranger and friend of the band from Oklahoma City. Then I lost track of them for a while, but one day I found them again with this song, which I think is beautiful and subtle, very fitting for these early September days when the evening is in a hurry to arrive again.
