Another #betterthanoriginal today is from a band I thought had disbanded, but according to the internet, they still seem to be active: Man or Astroman. After playing with surf and noise in the '90s and igniting live audiences with their theremin, they left behind a few albums ranging from excellent to decent. And also some covers, few but good. For example, this one, which I believe is better than the Talking Heads' version: Television Man

The greatest living harmonica player, according to Muddy Waters, someone who opened for acts like the New York Dolls and John Cale, will be remembered because one of his songs ended up in Eraserhead and for the cover made by the Pixies.
On YouTube, there are videos of our guy at some drug-fueled parties in 80s Los Angeles, always talking about his "famous" song, even humming it on request: what a sadness...
Anyway, in my opinion, the song is definitely worth it.

When I found myself devoid of a voice and a country blues sound as torn and piercing as Jeffrey Lee Pierce's in '96, the only thing that brought me peace of mind was listening to this mad Christian raised on bread and the Bible. One who spent his childhood following his itinerant preacher grandfather. I saw him years later with Wovenhand, still at incredible heights, but here, in my opinion, he has reached the peak of his musical career: 16 Horsepower - Haw (Live on 2 Meter Sessions, 1996)
