Dexys Midnight Runners, Kevin Rowland - Come On Eileen (1982 Version)

over 40 years ago Dexys Midnight Runners released the perfect pop song.
A catchy chorus, a mysterious verse derived from an Irish lullaby "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral," well-timed pauses, and a final crescendo with an explosion and choir. For me, undoubtedly among the top 5 perfect pop songs.

Etienne de Crecy - Scratched (Official Video)

I pause the series of covers by the Liverpool baronets for a special edition. Dear old folks, this record just came out, only 23 years ago, but it's worth it, give yourself a listen to this french touch electro funk disco aus!

The Rogers - Tam tam (1969)

Another cover by the baronets:
John Lennon was sued for stealing the guitar riff and the phrase "Here comes old flat-top" from "You Can't Catch Me" by Chuck Berry. The lawsuit didn't come from Berry, but from Morris Levy, one of the most notorious figures in the music industry. Levy sued the Beatles, or more precisely John Lennon, over the song during the time when the Beatles were breaking up.

For years, Lennon delayed the trial as he and the Beatles tried to resolve all the legal and business issues plaguing Apple Records. Eventually, in an attempt to avoid the courtroom as much as possible, he settled with Levy. Lennon agreed to record his album Rock N Roll, which was just a series of covers, including three songs owned by Levy (including "You Can't Catch Me") in the tracklist. The deal made sense: Lennon always wanted to make a cover album, and Levy wanted the value of his songs to increase (when a Beatle re-records a song, that's exactly what happens)…

Del Shannon - Keep Searching 1965

Here you have Del Shannon, one of the first to use synthetic sounds in rock.
The question: what other track does it remind you of? (Question directed to the VDM)

Clem Sacco Baciami La Vena Varicosa
