Nino D'Angelo Si turnasse a nascere
Listen without prejudice.
For @[withor], promises are promises, but "this river of time escapes..."
In the meantime, listen to this one because Beauty often hides where you least expect it.

L'illogica allegria
And I’m fine.
Right now, right here. I don’t know if it’s good for me, but I’m fine.
What a shame!

Places Of Light
Dedicated to @[Fratellone]
This is really easy listening!

Pseudo Pseudo "Boucher Voyager" (1996)
Good stuff, fuck...
Even though I don't trust the dealer who gave it to me and I don't know what it's cut with, it's good stuff...

Agnese va a morire - scena finale
Giuliano Montaldo (Genoa, February 22, 1930 – Rome, September 6, 2023)

Karen Carpenter - Lovelines
Karen Carpenter or the unbearable lightness of pain

Sonic Youth - Tunic (Song For Karen)
The Karen in the song is Karen Carpenter, and the fact that Kim Gordon sings a song dedicated to someone like Karen Carpenter says a lot...

Fabio Rovazzi feat. Orietta Berti - La Discoteca Italiana (Official Video)
Among the unbearable things of summer is also the inability to escape the listening of the unavoidable, horrifying "hits"!
With my wife and kids, then...
Well, today they were listening and singing along, very convinced, to this stuff. So I casually asked them, "who are these people?"
And they replied: "Orietta Berti (with Rovazzi)!!!!"
In my opinion, the fact that Orietta Berti is one of the hits of 2023 tells us about Italy and the times we are living in much more than a sociology treatise!
By the way, Alberoni has passed away and it doesn't seem like anyone has really talked about it much.

Hate Street Dialogue
And Sixto is gone too, the man who lived - truly! - two lives.
A crazy story and little but indispensable (for those lucky enough to know it) music. Both still the privilege of too few.

Lambertoni: ma cosa fà chi a Milàn cu stu cald? 😂
But what are they doing at DeBaser in this heat?

Happy Birthday - Short Horror Film
Damn birthdays that always arrive uninvited!
(And this one has gone by too...)

Serge Gainsbourg - Melody
Goodbye Jane
You will always be Melody Nelson to me "a les cheveux rouges
Et c'est leur couleur naturelle" (and those who want to understand...)

Francesco Nuti - Pupp'a pera
Another mistake (and you've paid for them all!)
But your last mistake is one that an actor can’t be forgiven for: getting the timing of your exit wrong...

Sam Sacks - Yodel Blues
And here it is, THE FANTASTIC WORLD OF TONE-DEAF SINGERS!
At the beginning there were Florence Foster Jenkins and Mrs. Miller, and after them, nothing was ever the same.
Especially the incredible success of Mrs. Miller gave rise to an underground world that no one even suspected existed: Johnny "Bowtie" Barstow, Anna-Lisa Ingemansson, Shooby Taylor, Bingo Gazingo, Neil Dick, Sam Chalpin... and so many others, all the way to Leona Anderson, the zero point of vocal possibilities in music, the absolute genius of non-singing (after all, her album is titled "Music to Suffer By"...)!
All different, each with their own peculiar style, a personal story, and a specific talent (because even being tone-deaf requires a certain skill).
A universe that I will - sooner or later - address with the due attention and space (you have been warned); perhaps with a series of tailored listening sessions...
For now - as an appetizer - here is Sam Sacks!
And with Sam, we will wrap up this series of listens for now; not because there aren't many other oddities to hear! But because - I'm afraid - I have overloaded your poor, weak, and sparse neurons... You need time to absorb such novelties and understand their genius.

Han Bennink on Cheese Kit Diptych - Encore
I know you, little mask-wearers!
You who act all posh around DeB...
"I listen to Test Dept and Einsturzende Neubauten playing iron pipes and pieces of sheet metal..."; "And what about Z'ev?"; "Look, I have all the records of African percussionists playing empty gourds and armadillo shells!"; "And I have the record of the 'bottari' of Portico, #gnegnegne" The worst ones are those who brag about having been drummers...
AMATEURS!
Here you have the CHEESE DRUMS!
And, look, the one playing it is Han Bennink, who is far from a novice! This guy has played with Wes Montgomery, Annette Peacock, Paul Bley, Peter Brotzmann, Eric Dolphy, and many others, and has recorded 7 albums under his own name!
I don't know if I make myself clear... (unlike that couple of you who played the toy drum in the parish band...)
The complete performance can be found on YouTube, a concert held in 2008 during some Contemporary Art festival; unfortunately, the concert (as far as I know) is only available on some pirate bootleg, waiting for some record label with the right guts to immortalize it on phonographic support.
When that finally happens, I’m sure many of us will rush to buy a copy!

Repetita iuvant!
That I, on this site of blockheads, generously dispense pearls of knowledge with too broad a hand and with a pitiful response is something - by now - well established. I know, I know: I am too good and I continue this my mission "pro bono publico" and you are lucky...
Well, one could discuss at length about animals that play, about musicians who are true beasts, and about beasts that are true musicians, bringing countless examples! But, here, there is moooore!
And if you want to delve deeper and also learn the names of those involved in this project (and I recommend that you note at least the name of Dave Soldier!), you can read here: l'ascolto di lector: 10+10 Pisciatori controvento. 18) Tha...
because I (who am too good) had already shared this stuff with you - blockheads! - back in the day. But it is known: repetita iuvant!

Bridge Music: IV. Toward the Horizon
One might say: but after you've listened to (and sometimes, bought...) records of people playing balloons, saws, sweaty hands, kazoos, and singing - off-key - to Beatles tapes, what more can you want, what else could there be that goes "beyond"?
Well, have faith that it certainly doesn't end here!
You can't even imagine how far the music industry has come and the imagination (but also the lack of modesty) of the artists.
For instance, here’s JOSEPH *BERTOLOZZI*!!
The greatest "bridge player" alive! I mean, he literally plays a bridge and he’s quite a virtuoso too! And the album isn’t even bad...
This video explains even better how he did it: Mid-Hudson Bridge Music
Ah, after this he also "played" the Eiffel Tower...

klaus beyer - eleanor rigby
Now, despite the efforts and tireless commitment I generously put forth to maintain the level of this site at a certain *height*, I must - much to my chagrin - acknowledge how often such work is belittled by the constant loitering of individuals of low (and often very low...) intellectual caliber and even lesser musical competence on these virtual shores, and I do not wish to name names...
Well, I can already imagine some of these "characters" dismissing this album as a "simple" cover (which, by the way, is rather poorly executed) of the Beatles, as there are many...
BUT NO!
There is moooolto more here! Klaus Beyer does not reinterpret the Beatles: HE REINVENTS THEM!
He started in the '80s by translating their songs to make them understandable for his mother, then began using two reel-to-reel tape recorders to cut non-vocal loops from the band's music to use as backing tapes for his German versions. In Germany, he is a bit of a legend, having been introduced to the "scene" of "Geniale Dilletanten" alongside people like Die Tödliche Doris, Einstürzende Neubauten, Frieder Butzmann, etc., with some of whom he has even shared the stage.
He is still active today, primarily with concerts.

Recorded Delivery [short film]
Janek Schaefer is a true artist: avant-garde artist, musician, composer, inventor, and British entertainer, known for performing and showcasing his works worldwide with sound and installation art. Schaefer has released 37 albums, manages Lucky Dip Disco, and his label, audiOh! (source: Wikipedia).
So we’re talking about serious stuff!
Here, this record here, for example... He put a recorder inside a package and then sent it to himself, and when the package returned, he unpacked the recorder and recorded onto a disk what came out of it (but the video explains it all; it’s even noted that Brian Eno - envious - claimed that the idea was his!).
The record is available for purchase on Bandcamp at this address: un link lungo
A great gift to give to someone who already has everything...
And don’t say that my musical tastes don’t have their uses!

"Let It Beef" by Manualist Jim Rotondo
Jim "Jimy Handtrix" Rotondo!
Ladies and gentlemen, this man is a genius! The greatest living "manualist"; he hasn't recorded anything yet (and this is something I can't explain, I swear...) but in the States, he is a star: shows, concerts, appearances on shows, and more (either solo or with his group, the "Three Tendons"...
I, who care about you, had already talked to you about him (so many pearls thrown to the wind...); in fact, I had introduced you to manualism and presented the figure of the inventor of this musical "style": the great Cecil Dill!
