Before being overwhelmed by the fucking Rock n' Roll and the most spastic electronic music, I primarily fed on stuff like this when I was 14. Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Human League, Duran Duran (for real!)... well, it was still the '80s, and I hadn't yet discovered Husker Du. The fact is that albums like Some Great Reward, Black Celebration, and especially Music For The Masses remain excellent works of synthetic pop. Nothing to complain about.

Sonic Youth

Their inspiration has dried up many albums ago. So much so that the best things are reserved for their solo works (see the great exploits of Moore and Ranaldo). But Confusion Is Sex, Bad Moon Rising, Evol... will remain eternal masterpieces for my tastes.

Immense and unfortunate singer-songwriter, nothing to rip your hair out over with Heatmiser, but as a solo artist, he has gifted us at least 3 albums of rare beauty such as Either/Or, XO, and especially From a Basement on The Hill.
