I call them the Silly Vanilli. I used to call them the Mannequins. I give the wardrobe a 1.

"To Pimp a Butterfly" mesmerized me. It had been a long time since I stumbled upon a rap album of such high quality. A ray of light in a universe (Hip-Hop) that, at least on the surface, now seems desolate.

The two LPs with the New York Dolls, "L.A.M.F." with the Heartbreakers, and the solo "So Alone" are more than enough to make Johnny Thunders one of my all-time favorite artists. A man who breathed, spat, lived (and passed away) Rockn'Roll.

In some better parallel universe than this one, a (chief) work of an album like "D.I. Go Pop" [1994] would have become a classic. Too ahead of its time. Alongside "Spiderland"... with the difference that for some strange reason, those have remained in semi-oblivion...

I give 4 stars just for that great album "Illinoise." I've listened to a couple of his other works, but they left me quite indifferent.

I hardly know a damn thing about this obscure figure, except for reports that he has been active since the early '80s tinkering with mostly homemade, obscure productions. My 5 is based on his latest work, "Space of a Second," where it seems you're listening to an even more dazed Barrett, but dealing with various electronic gadgets. Quite strange. But for me, one of the (few) albums of 2014. A strange and mysterious hybrid between Syd Barrett and Gary Numan (????)...

"First Utterance," or one of the most insane, visionary, and brilliant records in history. Folk possessed by a demonic sabbath.

The 5 stars just for giving us gems of toxic disarray like "Royal Trux '92," the wonderful "Cats And Dogs," and the excellent "Thank You." Ah, well, yeah, I'm sick, I love "Twin Infinitives." If Blues means devil's music, they are the quintessence of Blues. Fans of Scott Henderson et similia, please abstain...

I hear news that the guy from Static X has died. Obituaries aside, what I heard struck me. But in a bad way... anyway, may he rest in peace.
