Christian Death album: Ashes 1985. In 1985, Christian Death released this extraordinary and unsettling album titled "Ashes". Rozz Williams and company had already proven themselves to be a tough dark group like Virgin Prunes, who made the Cure seem like schoolboys in comparison; only Bauhaus could hold their own, and maybe also Siouxsie with her Banshees. Having said that, in my personal opinion, this album is something incredibly different from all the British dark sound that set the trend, because this very album is the one that represents the entirety of international dark music, now I will explain why. Try listening to this album at night in the dark, and I’m sure you won’t make it to the end of the album because it really has a beautiful but also frightening sound. I could mention "When I Was Bad" or even more terrible and frightening “Off the Wound,” a track that is unsettling to say the least and also very theatrical. Indeed, those who haven’t seen them live (dead dsl?) cannot understand the great theatricality of Christian Death, which is shown only in the photos of some of their album covers and transmitted to the most sensitive and receptive souls in the albums, or in this album—which I repeat is a great masterpiece of the dark sound or gothic, whichever you prefer to call it. One chilly November evening in the mid-80s, I went to see Christian Death live in Turin, which ended around midnight. When I left the venue with their dark and gloomy sound still capturing my soul, I was walking through a frozen fog. I heard footsteps behind me but didn’t know if they were my own echoing footsteps or someone following me, and that’s how I found myself in front of an open gate that I entered without ever turning back, and I don’t know why. I took the four steps suggested by a voice in my ear, after which I never had the chance or intention to turn back again, because the November fog enveloped me and I disappeared....... And disappeared .... in the distance, I heard the faint sound of Ashes, which almost seemed to me not a farewell, but a goodbye!

Greet with joy!
