poet, journalist, music critic, and free thinker Italian. Graduated in Mathematics in 1980, I have resided in California since 1983, I curated the column "Here Silicon Valley" for the Italian magazine ZeroUno, I have been a member of several humanitarian organizations, including Amnesty International, Oxfam, and Care. In 1983, I first published my personal website on Internet. I am a university professor, teaching (in 1984 at Harvard, then at Stanford in the 1995-1996 academic year, and at Berkeley from 1997 to 2004) subjects related to artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and formal theories of mind. I directed the Artificial Intelligence Center at Olivetti in Cupertino, California. As a poet, I published two volumes of critiques (L'Ultimo, 1991, Dialogo degli Amanti, 1998), and I have been recognized or awarded in seven national Italian awards. I was a member of Modern Poetry. In 1996, my book about the United States, Il Terzo Secolo, was published by Feltrinelli and entered the bestseller list of La Stampa. I am also a literary critic, reviewing US editorial news and publishing, in the magazine Logos, an installment titled An Introduction to Contemporary American Novel in 1989. I am a music critic; I published two books on avant-garde music and a History of Rock in six volumes. The latest book on the subject, A History of Rock Music 1951-2000 (2003), is a summa of these years, even if divided by musical genres and not bands. It was published in Italy in 2005 under the title A History of Rock Music, translated by music critic Massimiliano Osini. I am passionate about cinema: my reviews are published in Italy on Logos and on Rockerilla. Also in my website, there are hundreds of profiles on the most important directors in history. I was one of the editors of the art magazine "Leonardo." My site features a thorough section dedicated to painting. I have visited 101 countries. Some of my photographs taken during these trips have been used by the BBC, while reports from some journeys in Asia and South America have been the subject of articles in the weekly Tuttodove de La Stampa in the '80s, in the magazine Nuova Era (the '90s), and included in some British travel guides.
