I appreciate the reviewer's effort, but the track-by-track is just exhausting and quite repetitive. The album is nothing short of redundant and pompous; it drags through a questionable hodgepodge of genres (from medieval folk to tribal rhythms, to gospel, to fusion), the often excessive vocal theatricality, and the overbearing presence of orchestral parts. Alright, it’s clear that I don't like it... I prefer works that are more anchored to metal roots like Remedy Lane... also because, quite frankly, I think that as soon as they push further, they take a step that is too long for their leg and come up with nothing interesting. I round up to a 3 for the album.

mauromuse, who would be your expressive geniuses, just to understand? I hope your answer isn’t related to your nickname because I would really start rolling on the floor laughing.

amev, it's just a joke, and don't tell me to fuck off because I didn't send you there.

If democracy means letting every nonsense go through, then I'm not a democrat. These people make music that's stereotyped to the core, with zero originality. The expressive approach of the artists I listed above is not one but 100 times superior to that of these dimwits. Forget about creative genius! But you only need to listen to a "cross the breeze" or a "sludgefeast" to realize it... well, pearls before swine.

Amev, sorry, you said yourself that you could easily tell someone to screw off, so don't complain if they do! I really like the album and it's in my top 10 of 2008.

But what points of view, Gallagher?? If you think this guy is a creative genius, it means you've never listened to anything decent in your life!

Art?? Creativity?? The Feeder??? Are you serious? Some of those choruses are just horrendous in their banality ("Polythene Girl", "Crash"), "Tangerine" (one of the few decent ones) is a poor imitation of the Smashing Pumpkins, and "Suffocate" is as alternative as Porcupine Tree, meaning zero. But if the Feeder are alternative, then what the heck are Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, Minutemen, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., and so on? Aliens?

Excellent review, especially great the phrase "a mantric ride on defenseless epidermises; a pouring of unsanctified molten lead by Maya shamans; a Dark Sun diving into helpless oceans of pure disgust. A monstrous altar on which to flow hectoliters of liquefied peyote. Abominable design of the unknowable." Wow!! Anyway, the citation of Electric Wizard is spot on... they really do sound like them in "Beneath"... for my tastes, they are maybe a bit too raw, but I imagine that genre lovers will enjoy them a lot. Among the influences, I would also add Neurosis (but then again, who hasn't drawn inspiration from them in this field?).

Can you give me some names of good music critics? Just to get an idea...
