The Soundtrack Of Our Lives Behind The Music

Really a beautiful vintage rock album, played with great taste and fresh, inspired compositions. It ranges from infectious energy rock pieces to melodic-psychedelic ballads.

Bartle, I’ve pretty much tried all the Rage ones because I have a metalhead bassist friend who loves them, and I have to say I liked the latest ones, the more over-the-top ones with Terrana on drums, while the early stuff doesn’t do much for me.

There's not much to say about power; it’s such an oversaturated genre that often you struggle to find two choruses that aren’t identical in structure and arrangements. Helloween and Gamma Ray first, and then Blind Guardian (even though I have Imaginations and it has never really grabbed me) and Stratovarius (up to Visions, mind you, not beyond) are all you need to understand the genre.

I like several things about '80s heavy metal: the first album by Dio, Walls of Jericho, various Judas Priest tracks, the early Iron Maiden, some Tygers of Pan Tang, but many bands like Running Wild, Diamond Head, Saxon, etc., really say very little to me... although to be fair I don't listen to the entire NWOBHM like I used to.

"Death or Glory" by Running Wild makes me sick like rhino heads covered in Nutella, but that doesn't mean I don't like heavy metal... there's metal and there's metal.

What a nice discovery this album is, great folky atmospheres, one of the now rare albums that are somewhat original.

"let's delve into the more properly progressive and introspective side" BUAHAHAHHAHAHAHA introspective Symphony X??? ahahahahahahahaha!! "The Pharaoh, on the other hand, is commendable for the aggressiveness with which it is played, even though it doesn't reach the speeds of the earlier pieces" what is this, a Formula One Grand Prix? I imagine you don't even know the Don Caballero that dreamwarrior mentioned, please listen.

No one ever said that the partisans were all saints; simply, as in all groups of people, there are those who follow the rules and those who do things their own way (in this case, a small minority)... but this has always been known. Yet, certain violent acts must be contextualized in a period when people were coming out of years and years of repression, tension, violence, deprivation of rights, and continuous reprisals. My opinion is that there was no need to obsessively write books upon books, films, and in-depth analyses of every kind, all neatly prepared to be exploited by the fascist right who are just waiting to throw mud on those they see as nothing but communist scum and who, in fact, died for their own skin (with hindsight, I don't know how worth it that was considering the mess we've ended up in), not to mention countless episodes of "porta a porta" that seem to sprout like mushrooms whenever there’s nothing else to say, and the model of Cogne appears particularly worn out... all of this for what, then? To reveal what seems obvious to anyone with a modicum of common sense!? It didn’t take a genius to understand that in a theater of war and dictatorship, what we might define as normal lines of behavior can undergo deep changes, and what seemed normal back then is now viewed with disgust. What must not be forgotten, and this is the fundamental point, is that most of those people wanted a free state, and the aim of the entire partisan movement was not at all the establishment of a Soviet-style dictatorship as Pansa and other revisionists claim, but to pursue freedom, for themselves and for those who would come after them.
