AA.VV. Rock Star - Soundtrack
Voto:
If I had to give a rating based on the memories this soundtrack brings to mind, I would give it a solid 4, while objectively speaking, it’s nothing special—ridiculous hard rock at its finest. However, at the time, tracks like "Stand Up", "Blood Pollution", and "We All Die Young" were ones I listened to hundreds of times. The opening scene is fantastic, with them blasting "livin' the life" in the car at full volume on the way to the concert, and that part where the road manager explains to the journalist that Chris "really needed to pee" =D
Roberto Saviano Gomorra
Voto:
Do you realize that you are accusing people you don't know of drug use? And why on earth would Saviano be a writer-invention? Are the things he writes in his book inventions? Or is the empire of the Casalesi clan, on which he has helped shed light, an invention? What about the threats he has received? I bet you haven't even bothered to read Gomorra. "Marcite all'inferno"... it's the language of a brat, do you realize? A brat?

"Because in a horror what should one look for? An original plot" well, I would say that this is appreciated in every genre, not just in horror; "engaging acting" same as above; "a solid story" again; "a thrill when you least expect it" do you mean sudden close-ups on a monster's face with overwhelming sound effects included? "Goosebumps and lingering effects even hours after finishing the viewing..." this can only happen to you as a child or if you are a very impressionable person. "This has to be a horror" this must be what horror films are to meet the canonical criteria, and in 99% of cases, they are downright trash (try to name 10 horror masterpieces from the last decade; if I reach 2 or 3 it’s a miracle). "I honestly had no trouble falling asleep" I never understood the need to pay 8 euros to sleep... just the fact of having spent money (and not a little) to watch a film, I could not possibly fall asleep, especially in such a short film, unless I had a grueling day, but in that case, I’d rather sleep at home, at least that’s free.

I saw it on Tuesday, and I echo GEB regarding the audience in the theater who exorcise the tension by making jokes, saying nonsense loudly, and chuckling (not to mention the ridiculously noisy bags of chips); watching it alone at night probably has a different effect. In my opinion, the film isn't even among the worst in the horrible average of horror films from the last 10 years, but it's not new (Blair Witch Project and REC) and especially its content is terribly banal... the demon roaming around the house moving furniture, the lights flickering on and off... all things we've seen a million times before, with the only difference of amateur filming (which is still nothing innovative) trying in vain to make it all seem more realistic. The final scene is one of the rare jolts of the film, although we could have expected it. At least I only spent 5 euros instead of 8... I didn't really like the review; it tries to be cute but fails and reminds me of the attitude of those who make little ironic quips in the cinema, breaking whatever little atmosphere might be created. Anyway, I also trusted some friends who claimed the film was worth it; even a friend of a friend was so shaken that she couldn't stop sending him terrified texts after the movie... I think it's a case of self-suggestion from the marketing.

I don't understand what "conceptual modernity" would be... I mean, as long as we're talking about a technically revolutionary film, I can still agree, even if I'm not very knowledgeable about it, but conceptually, what does this film bring that's new? Regarding the analysis of the film, I refer to my first comment on Ilpazzo's review.

Yes Berlin, now the price of a ticket is 8.00 euros, and if it's in 3D it seems to be 1 euro more, but there are one or two days a week when university students pay 5.

johanne, on rece there were 3 Avatars, not 2, and one of them, IlPazzo's, spoke very highly of it.

"Oh, this site is frequented by die-hard cinephiles, the kind that if the movie doesn’t bore you as much as two hot air balloons, they aren’t happy..." On Debaser, as you will notice by reading the comments in this and the other two reviews on Avatar, there are both supporters and detractors of the film, and I believe there exist various shades between all-action, special effects films and the more tedious ones... "Or maybe I just don’t understand a thing about entertainment, which is likely, and so do most of my acquaintances who have seen the film..." What does understanding entertainment have to do with it? At most, understanding cinema, but then it means nothing; you don’t need to know about cinema to give a personal opinion... "Or more simply, the new generations, of which I unfortunately am only marginally a part, have lost the ability to marvel at fantasy and creativity... maybe it’s video games..." I don’t know if you’ve ever seen some of today’s video games on PS3 or X-Box, but their aesthetics are very similar to that of Avatar, and I'm not only talking about the graphics. In my opinion, Avatar has a screenplay and characters that are banal and predictable, but several pseudo-enthusiasts pointed out to me that screenplay and characters don’t matter in cinema because for those things, there are books... perhaps you agree with that analysis; despite being 25, I evidently have a somewhat old-fashioned concept of modern mainstream cinema.

@schizoid: I don't agree that they are either exciting or annoying, I sit in the middle, I find them somewhat likable even though I don't consider them exceptional.
