There was a time when I considered Lateralus an undisputed masterpiece... then about a month ago I happened to listen to it right after "Daydream Nation" and I significantly reassessed it... I don't know what led me to listen to those two albums in that order, but I have to say that after enjoying the Sonic Youth masterpiece at full volume, the Tool of Lateralus sounded quite repetitive, a bit superficial, and muuuch less original. I don't know, maybe my tastes are simply changing...
