John Petrucci Suspended Animation
Voto:
I, as a technician, consider that, in addition to doing thrilling things, it's also important to adapt to different genres while always maintaining the improvisational freshness of one's style. Mr. Petrucci, who is always exceptional in DT and probably the perfect guitarist for that genre, loses something compared to the guitarists I've mentioned when you listen to him in performances that stray from prog-metal. For example, Ron Thal and Andy Timmons are among the best in this regard, but also Mattias IA Eklundh from Freak Kitchen, Greg Howe, Vinnie Moore, and Nuno Bettencourt are at least on the same level as JP, yet they have much less visibility and many people forget about them...

Dave, I'm sorry to disagree with you, but good old Petrucci is not at all the best technically... in fact, even without looking into jazz or fusion, just staying within hard rock and metal, there are plenty of guitarists who outshine him... Some examples? Ron Thal (listen to the songs from his band, the Bumblefoot, they do a sort of crossover and he has impressive technique), Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Michael Romeo, not to mention the god of guitar (at least among current guitarists): Andy Timmons!! And there are quite a few others... That doesn't change the fact that JP has made a fundamental contribution to the creation of wonderful songs...

They told me that women, oxen, and engines are joys and sorrows, and to not put women and engines in front of the cart, in front of the oxen. But I did it, and the flying woman, a constant danger, broke my cart. And since whoever breaks pays, and the pieces are hers and the oxen's from her lands, the flying woman pays with her oxen. Damn the flying woman and the constant danger. And now that I no longer have the cart, what do I put in front of my oxen? What to do about the engines and about the women if the cart is gone? For the engines, I’ll get the gasoline, but what will I do for the women? There’s a shortage of carts, and the women are suffering a bit. Damn the shortage of carts and the abundance of constant danger. From proverbs comes wisdom, but from the cart comes joy. The grass I want doesn't even grow in the neighbor's garden. I want the king's grass: give it to me! The king is near. The neighbor's garden is getting greener and greener. Even the neighbor is green: help him. Now a company enters the scene, whose spokesperson reminds me to give a hit to the ring and one to the barrel full and one to the drunken wife, but between saying and doing, there's "and," and one swallow doesn't make a spring. So they give me a new cart equipped with rocket launchers, to constantly bombard the flying woman. I launch my rockets into the cosmos and prepare to hit the flying woman: to avoid impact, she dives into a cloud, but it’s a tragic mistake: it's not an ordinary cloud, but a cloud followed by Kid. She has dove into the ass of Nembo Kid, dying. God makes them and then pairs them off; I understand, life is like that.

"Listening to this album is undoubtedly the best sensory and metaphysical experience a man can have." I stopped here, BUT GO F*** YOURSELF!! I would suggest not writing reviews under the influence of heroin...

You can't distinguish charisma and personality from vulgarity.

Now you're criticizing Mick Jagger too?! No, that's not right... Vulgar? Listen to "Let it Loose" and tell me what you think.

Extraordinary! One of the best releases of 2006! And to think that in Italy Vasco and Ligabue are the most popular...
John Williams Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (O.S.T.)
Voto:
This soundtrack is fantastic! Even though I don't particularly love the Star Wars saga, I must admit that John Williams is an unrivaled master, an inspired successor to giants like Strauss and Mahler.

Incredible, I was just listening to it yesterday and today I see the review on Debaser: a splendid, multifaceted, enigmatic album... I agree with the reviewer on Moon in June, a true masterpiece of sensitivity and imagination. Facelift is unsettling, while Out-Bloody-Rageous is a peak of the Canterbury sound...
