Have you explored new genres? But clear your ears because they’ve been making the same record for 20 years. Maiden ended in 1985. Is Epic a variation of genre? Where do you hear Prog-metal, excuse me?

come on, "A Matter of..." is the same old Maiden album that adds nothing to the first 4-5 albums, and therefore perfectly pointless.

The truth is that people still haven't learned to evaluate an album for what it wants to be and not for what you want it to be. Appetite is a straightforward and energetic hard rock work infused with punk attitude and adorned with Slash's blues solos. It doesn't aim in the slightest to be an original product nor innovative; like the self-titled album by Van Halen, it is not a new rebirth for shit and it doesn't even want to be one. It draws from examples of the past but does it damn well.

Attention: overrating does not always mean that the album is of low quality, but only that there is a disproportion between the hype and mythologizing coming from the fans and the intrinsic quality of the album. Appetite for Destruction in the realm of Hard Rock is probably among the most famous, but it can also be counted among the best examples of its genre in the '80s.

TAAB is a parody of the concept album that everyone (or almost everyone) has taken as gospel, while interpreting it in a detached manner reveals that, apart from a few initial minutes and a couple of other flashes, it is nothing more than a semi-empty album of fairly anonymous classic rock stretched to absurd lengths with the addition of flute phrases here and there; the result is that I find it quite boring (personal opinion)... of course, it’s played diligently, but I can only muster 3 stars if I really try. I mentioned the Canterbury scene since it is also part of the progressive genre and is rich with great performers like Henry Cow, Caravan, Egg... who outshine the JT.

For me, it is not enough for critics or the masses to categorize them in the progressive genre for them to be considered prog. I repeat, even in the 3 historic albums, you can hear folk rock, albeit structured in the form of a concept, but certainly not progressive... In particular, Aqualung, while not outstanding, is the most honest of the three, whereas Thick as a Brick is a mockery and A Passion Play is a boring and pointless brick. Prog, for me, is something else... see Gentle Giant... Camel... Focus... King Crimson... Le Orme... not to mention the Canterbury scene... as you can see, it’s not a small number.

In my opinion, Jethro Tull are the most overrated band in the entire progressive scene, considering that they mainly play folk rock and, in my view, both technically and compositionally, they are inferior to bands like Van Der Graaf Generator, Genesis, Soft Machine, and Yes...

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Metallica, Nirvana, Sepultura, Slayer, Slipknot, Soulfly, Stone Sour, Stratovarius, System of a Down and now Guns'n'Roses... I must say you have always had an exquisite taste; who knows what quirky artist you'll introduce us to next... I can't wait... and you're irreverent and unconventional in your judgments too... a fucking genius!
