EWEWEWEWE, you are the proof that die-hard DT fans are just idiots good for nothing but working the fields. What the hell are you offended by?! Can't anyone express opinions anymore? If you disagree, justify your ideas... assuming you have any in that asshole brain of yours.

EXCELLENT!!! Music that resonates beyond the universe, a masterpiece of inconceivable magnitude. One cannot help but be taken by surprise the first time this album is heard, just as one cannot help but be captivated the next time. I didn't quite understand the phrase about Tool...now we are in 2007 and I still appreciate them...I guess I must be a fool...

So, it’s necessary to clarify two major points: the first is that while beauty is subjective and varies from person to person, the criterion of originality (and in the best cases, innovation) is objectively measurable; that’s why I referred to originality and not to beauty. In this specific case, my SUBJECTIVE opinion is that Mr. Big was a classic hair-metal band with the typical sound of an '80s/'90s hair-metal group and, I reiterate, IN MY OPINION, they have much less originality compared to a large number of their contemporary bands and artists. However, you might be surprised to know that I actually enjoy several of their songs, or rather, I liked them quite a lot until some time ago. The second point is about the concept of impact: when you referred to impact, I was considering a musical impact on rock and on the artists that came after, not, as you stated in your last post, the impact on people... unfortunately, that has been true for Madonna and Britney Spears as well, but it didn’t correspond to a relative musical impact.

I am very familiar with Keith Jarrett, whom I consider one of the best jazz pianists in the world. Jazz may also be the most complex genre to play due to the difficult mental approach required for improvisation, and Scaruffi also considers it superior to rock. But I, for example, continue to prefer rock for various reasons: it is broader (with an immense number of subgenres) and the creative possibilities within it are practically infinite, and I’m not just talking about performance, but about composition and expressive possibilities. Finally, I agree with you that Scaruffi is not gospel, but you will agree with me that it's better to enrich oneself culturally from those who possess greater knowledge.

But look, he has never given a 10 to anyone, a 9.5 only to 3 albums, and a 9 to less than 40 albums... Anyway, if you read the section on his website where he explains his evaluation method, you will understand, among other things, that for him an album rated 7.5 or 8 means it’s a masterpiece and should be bought immediately. As for classical music, Scaruffi has often said that he considers it a "superior" musical form, and therefore the ratings will inevitably be higher there. P.S.: I think Led Zeppelin IV is the worst among the first 4 Led albums, aside from the great Stairway to Heaven and Going to California, in fact, there are the 2 somewhat predictable opening songs, and the rest is absolutely poor in ideas... I would say 7-

See how varied the world is; you criticize it for giving a 7 to Aqua, while I appreciate it for introducing me to Slint, Tortoise, Neurosis, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mr. Bungle, Kyuss, Vampire Rodents, The God Machine, Bark Psychosis, Primus, Mogwai, Built to Spill, Dirty Three, Labradford, Melvins, Hash Jar Tempo, Electric Wizard, etc., etc...

But look, I like DT too, but this isn't a DT album, it's crap compared to the early albums, it doesn't even hold up for comparison.

And even for Aerosmith, he gave three albums a score of 7, a high rating by his standards. As for glam-metal, well, honestly, one can't go beyond 6-6.5 with all due goodwill...especially for a rock critic of a certain caliber...

I think that Led Zeppelin are one of the most important bands in the history of rock, and one of the most innovative in the hard rock genre, as well as being authors of very high-quality songs (No Quarter, Achilles Last Stand, etc.). But even Scaruffi gave 7.5 (a very high rating for him) to their first album and no failing grades until 1976 (quite rare for Scaruffi), so his view is also positive. Then, as for the plagiarisms, there are some undeniable ones, but they do not detract at all from the quality of Led.

First, read the reviews of ALL the artists that Mr. Scaruffi has rated (and if possible, listen to them too) and don't just go read about the Beatles, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin and expect to know what he thinks. He knows a lot, I assure you, and he has introduced me to hundreds of amazing bands, so get informed first and then speak.
