Nicolas Winding Refn Drive
Voto:
Yes, "Drive" isn't bad, but it doesn't reach 5 stars... among the crime movies set in L.A., I consider "Vivere e morire a Los Angeles," for example, to be a notch above. The soundtrack and the other 80s embellishments are bearable, given the high level of direction. Overall, though, I don't think it's a masterpiece. I disagree with the "Indefinibile, inqualificabibile, inettichettabile" label; it’s not like it’s a Lynch film... it’s a fairly classic crime thriller. Among the more recent ones, I preferred "In Bruges," which is less bleak, more carefree and witty; but then again, it's all a matter of taste...

Frankie Teardrop...the most disturbing piece ever conceived with one of the most claustrophobic and raw lyrics ever written, a worthy representation of the failure of the Western world...we're all Frankies, we're all lying in Hell.
Latte & I Suoi Derivati Greatest Hits
Voto:
Lillo and Greg are my favorite Italian comedians, if only because they are among the few who rely on surreal humor and brilliant gags of Anglo-Saxon style, which are nothing short of unconventional in the local comedy scene, and they are incredibly versatile. The "Latte e i suoi derivati" have episodes that really make you crack up, from "Fiera del Tufello" to "Otto il Passerotto," "Un Pagnotta e un sogno in Tasca," "Compagni Camerati," "Amico è," "Bughi," "Figlio Mio ovvero Dritte per Svoltare," and a whole ocean more.
Tuxedomoon Half Mute
Voto:
Definitely a listen to recommend for those who love unusual sounds and disorienting atmospheres, a "different" album, with originality in abundance from Tuxedomoon.
Radiohead Amnesiac
Voto:
"Amnesiac" and "Kid A" I think are the peak reached by Radiohead, especially Amnesiac which I consider, for experimentation and expressiveness, one of the most important albums of the past decade... the first three albums, on the other hand, are enjoyable Brit-pop with a clearly growing quality from album to album and filled with great tracks, but nothing exceptional or particularly original, except for some parts of OK Computer. The last three works are, in my opinion, tired attempts to change direction once again, but end up being sterile rehashes of what has already been heard.
Bitch Magnet Umber
Voto:
madonna's disc, with a sound that's thick and visceral that goes straight to the gut, you can really feel both the hardcore roots and the typical post-rock vibes of Louisville, among the best alternative works from the late '80s... the voice and bass of Sooyoung Park in tracks like "Douglas Leader" are precursors of what was about to happen soon, then I also hear various Melvins-style riffs in "Big Pining" or "Punch and Judy."
The Pink Fairies Never Never Land
Voto:
excellent resurrection of a psychedelic hard rock quite original for their time
Clint Eastwood Lettere Da Iwo Jima
Voto:
Damn Clint, you always manage to move me... gentlemen, what direction! Great review, straightforward and concise.
Lucio Dalla Com'è profondo il mare

I also think that the title track is the most successful piece of his career; in addition to the superb lyrics, there's Paolo Donnarumma's excellent bass, the same as in "Voce del padrone." In my personal top 5 of Italian singer-songwriters of all time, right after the four immortals: De Andrè, Gaber, Battisti, and Battiato.
Yannick Dahan/Benjamin Rocher La Horde

I remember seeing it in a second-run theater (!), we came out around 2:30 in the morning shouting "I'm a fucking Nigerian!". For those who love gratuitous violence, excessive torture, and absurd characters, honestly, it's hard to go beyond 2 stars.
