Brian De Palma Carlito's Way
Voto:
Alongside "Scarface" and "Blow Out," this is De Palma's peak (I don't know why many consider "The Untouchables" even above, when it is a much more ordinary and conventional film)... Pacino and Penn are formidable, the story of the ex-convict wanting to redeem himself but unable to do so reminded me in many ways of "Fearsome Beast" by E. Bunker, from which, by the way, "Vigilato Speciale" was adapted. Notable are the final scene at the train station, the one in the billiards room, and also the one on the boat.

excellent arrangements, stunning sounds, a warm and deep voice, and then pieces more beautiful than the last... what more could you want? For me, the highlights are "javelin unlanding" and "summer painter," and of course the irresistible "the sing," which makes you immerse yourself, leaning against the bar while time passes leisurely.
Martin Scorsese Fuori Orario
Voto:
the most lynchian of Scorsese's films, a night spent in the metropolitan madness of a New York where everyday life has become a nightmare, excellent direction

It's always the old who lead us to war
It's always the young who fall
Now look at all we've won with the sabre and the gun
Tell me, is it worth it all
Paolo Sorrentino La Grande Bellezza
Voto:
Monstrous photography, visually excellent film, and the supporting characters are spot on, like the cardinal who only talks about recipes or the bitch who drags Verdone along; the smackdown that Servillo delivers to the 53-year-old "with civic engagement" is formidable, and the interview with the artist who gives "headbutts to the wall"... then with the Ferrari: "But what do you do for a living?" "Me? I'm rich." "Beautiful job!"

"Think of me with kindness" eats up 80% of the ballads ever conceived at breakfast, "Knots" is pure prog madness, "The Advent of Panurge" has a killer groove... definitely an amazing album, together with the first 3 albums it forms an insane level poker.
Michael Haneke Il Settimo Continente
Voto:
the first two parts are the apotheosis of the claustrophobic depression of bourgeois everyday life.. glacial, sterile, empty, and repetitive gestures, portrayed by obsessive and ruthless framing... the third part represents the destruction of everything that society deems important, money, objects, family, life. Agreeing with the reviewer, to call it disturbing is an understatement. It’s hard and rare to find oneself in the right "mood" to want to watch it again, at least for me.
Ettore Scola C'eravamo tanto amati
Voto:
A very bitter scene is when Gianni thinks about how, all things considered, it would have been better if he had died in the war; there is so much of our little post-war Italy in this fresco by Scola, and all in all, the balance is disheartening.

just bought the excellent Einaudi edition, I couldn’t not have it, a monument of comic books and much more, a document to preserve for future generations, heartbreaking and sharp
