Francesco Sossai Le città di pianura
Voto:
It had been a long time since I’d seen an Italian "independent" film made so well. There are excellent ideas, and the emotions flow naturally, without the usual manipulative tricks.
Jim Jarmusch Father Mother Sister Brother
Voto:
I loved the first two episodes, much less the third one, but overall it’s a good film from the great Jim—not at his peak, but truly faithful to his style, made up of silences, reflections, things left unsaid, and a few touches of calm and ironic humor. The choice of recurring elements is interesting (even in very different settings): the clock, the phrase "Bob's your uncle", the toast, and the skaters. From a directing and musical standpoint, there’s nothing to complain about—he’s always great and it shows, his style is recognizable right away.
Kathryn Bigelow A House of Dynamite
Voto:
One of Bigelow's most successful films, coming after the excellent Detroit (although the best remains, without a doubt, that visionary masterpiece "Strange Days"). She brings the classic "A prova di errore" ("Fail-Safe") from Sidney Lumet's 1964 film into the present day, with a perfect handling of narrative pacing.
The Soundtrack Of Our Lives Behind The Music

After 23 years since its release, this album still sounds superb. What a delight, I love it!
Paul Thomas Anderson Licorice Pizza
Voto:
Cooper Hoffman impressively remembers his father. Truly brilliant. There are no adjectives left for P.T.A.; his filmography remains on an inhuman level even after 25 years since his debut.
Giuseppe Tornatore Ennio
Voto:
Exceptional documentary, exactly what I hoped to see. It does full justice to an unparalleled career. A journey through 20th-century cinema and music. Unmissable.
Frank Zappa You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol.2
Voto:
One of the most monumental and technically unattainable live albums of all time. Incredible.
Woody Allen Sogni e delitti
Voto:
Another interesting film by Allen that fits into the theme of moral dilemmas after Crimes and Misdemeanors and Match Point. All in all, good performances from Farrell and McGregor; not one of his peaks, but a solid screenplay as always.
AA.VV. New York Stories
Voto:
The first episode by Scorsese is valid, great direction, use of music, and excellent performances by the actors; the second honestly doesn’t do anything for me, I expected much more from someone like Coppola; in the third, however, I really laughed heartily watching Allen being mocked by passersby and his mom scolding him against the skyline of New York, he always manages to be brilliant in his own way. So as for the ratings, I would say 7 for the first, 5 for the second, 7.5 for the third. Average 6.5.

The next day in the news headlines "ROCK TRIUMPHANT IN SANREMO". I swear, I didn't make it up.
