I think about the prog of that time, it doesn't seem to me that the Focus were that bad.. On Sylvia, I couldn't disagree with you more.. well.. at least you like the drummer, that's something :D

I don't understand, Pippo. The live performances seem to be supported by a significant emotional charge, along with the skill in blending music with vocal sounds used almost like an instrument. Everything flows magnificently, even in the live shows. As for the structure of the compositions, I limit myself to judging the two studio albums I have listened to, namely this one and Focus3. Surely nothing spectacular, but to say they are extremely limited seems like an inappropriate statement, forgive me. It's not just about a few parts repeated obsessively; every now and then there’s simply a recurring theme with possible variations. What do you find wrong with that?

Here Fripp, one of the most interesting sites I have ever read, but you may already know it: Philomusica on-line - "Composizione e sperimentazione nel rock britannico 1967-1976", Cremona 20-22 ottobre 2006

Fripp, thank you for recommending this album to me some time ago. It's one of the most beautiful records I've ever heard, featuring a bit of everything, the best of what existed before them, ranging from KC to Zappa, from Red Crayola to jazz. For me, what you call neo is perhaps a virtue of the album, the pursuit of perfection in blending such diverse sounds in a way so skillful and enjoyable that few have ever managed to achieve. If we really want to be picky, one might notice a lack of originality in the sonorities, but this is masterfully compensated by the structures of the pieces and the excellence of the execution. Additional merits, as you remind us, include the use of brass, Hoban's evocative voice, and the "campanilistici" lyrics. What can I say, Fripp, excellent review, and once again, THANK YOU for recommending this immense MASTERPIECE and congratulations to the Japanese label for remembering this great music.

"I envisioned a Pink Floyd-like sound, and instead I find myself immersed in the typical sounds of the '80s"—maybe because we are in '84???
