Husker Du are one of the few punk groups I actually like, to be honest. A good part of your statements don’t reflect what I’ve said in any of my posts, especially the various denigrations towards noise, which I’ve never made myself. Again, goodbye.

I wouldn't want to argue with anonymous people; let me clarify that I downloaded a song and listened to it lightly, and I found it pleasant. In short, I don't find anything to dislike in it, which constitutes a good 90% of today's Italian music. Debaser serves this purpose too.

Dear Jimmi, that record is a diatribe against the Beatles and no one else.

The hippie dream has evaporated because of people like you. The folks of '69, when they weren't at protests, worked their asses off and didn't live off others. The disillusionment of the '70s is one of the ills of the century; explanatory films can't change either my life or my opinions; not everything that comes after is to be discarded. I've understood enough about Punk, which is also a failed rebellion, but it continues to wreak havoc on society.

No-comment. Hippie power: the pairing of these two words can only cause a mutual repulsion.

Barrett had more blended personalities together; he was truly a unique case: there was the poet, the madman, the guitarist, the composer, the ill one, the genius, the misfit, the freak; it was only natural that his time was short, natural that he left us only and exclusively masterpieces. It’s pointless to compare him with any figure in twentieth-century music, idiotic to criticize him.

In simple words: grunge is a rather simplistic music, absolutely laughable when compared to progressive, kraut, and free-jazz (and I would avoid bringing up more noble genres). This craze for the message aimed at the youth, for social rebellion, and everything that punk and its derivatives want to emphasize seems quite discreditable to me: is it possible that through a distorted message, they want to propose something new at the end of every decade??? The real message must be sought in the depths of hippie philosophies; those of punk and grunge seem to me to be almost incoherent and unnecessary alternatives, absolutely anti-ethical and musically just sufficient to evoke an ostentatious desire for novelty that, however, has no way of expanding into other fields, assuming it ever did in music. In the so-called freak songs, which may seem trivial and childish to many young people today, there is in fact a profound musical exploration, a study of absolutely deep meaning, a strong legacy that has touched other artistic fields like literature or painting, an introspective journey that helps us know our self and relate well to the rest of society, an outright rejection of anything materialistic or consumeristic which, whether willingly or unwillingly, punk has gradually developed over these years. Who knows what other movements await us in 2 or 3 years; I shudder at the thought. And then excuse me, if (and I emphasize if) any of you have listened well (and I emphasize well) to Volunteers by Jefferson Airplane, but dozens and dozens of musical works from that period centered around this theme will surely have made you understand the significance of a society at the turn of the twentieth century, characterized by changes more than any other human era, and to which we have been very hard-pressed to adapt, evidenced by the fact that the world is going to ruin, and music today is just one of the myriad facets that demonstrate this. The bands that are so trendy today, but also many of the niche groups that are unconsciously revered, may make music for passion (although most do it for money), they may be good in their context, they may give you goosebumps and various sensations, but they are certainly as clueless as you are about the end that we are all heading towards! Thank you once again!
