Mmmm.. I loved you with the old nickname and I guess I have to love you again with the new one. Great comment. You’re very ironic, which is always a plus.. Your argument holds water. Surely, Cornell must have been fed up with continuing to shout and wanted to do something "different" to focus more on his image than on his voice, now battered after years and years of mistreatment. It takes courage, I give him that, to shift from "Down on the Upside" (I mention this one since it’s the worst from the Soundgarden), "Out of Exile" (for the same reason), "Euphoria Morning" (great album very underrated), to pop-dance in the style of Justin Timberlake. But he, for the countless fans, has been, is, and will remain the one from Jesus Christ Pose. It’s like if Bob Dylan started doing cartoon theme songs or if Carpathian Forest duetted with Avril Lavigne or Britney Spears. Even Metallica sold out, but they didn’t start playing polka and mazurkas at village fairs. The best voice of the 90s rock getting into pop/dance with the choreography of tits and asses behind is just unacceptable. At least Audioslave were Rage Against The Machine, not Take That, with the voice of Soundgarden, not Robbie Williams. If they sold out, I'm happy for them, commercial operation or not, at least they made good hard rock. This is a change of direction that, with all the good intentions in the world, just cannot be explained (for the money, fine, but I don’t think the result will lead to a sales boom, maybe I’m wrong and the statistics will prove me wrong).

How nice it is to read comments about Rino Gaetano and De André on a review of the latest album of a girl who died not long ago... What a pleasure...

Look, if he had made another album with the quality of Euphoria Morning, I think he would have only benefited from it. It's not about experimenting, that's fine, but from someone like him, who chooses the path of pop, produced by Timbaland, I expected at least something a bit revolutionary, not such a flat and colorless album. Then again, no one doubts that he's still a badass at 45... Not that it interests me much. I, who have ADMIRED him (can’t you tell from the nickname?) in Soundgarden, solo, and with Audioslave, felt a bit taken for a ride.

I remember being favorably impressed by the song she presented at Sanremo and I thought immediately, "If this doesn’t win (though I wasn’t very confident), I’ll have proof that Italy understands nothing about music." I think it came in second, behind A... T........, if I’m not mistaken. It was a half-disappointment mixed with a quarter of satisfaction. I thought that Valentina, after that experience, would start to take off and carve out a respectable space for her somewhat unconventional (not exactly original, mind you) proposal, a bit outside the norms of standard Italian pop. That didn’t happen, in fact... The Festival took care of clipping her wings. What a pity. I had wondered a few times what had happened to her, and when I heard about her death, which passed (almost) totally unnoticed by the media and the same Bonolized Festival (a shame, in my opinion, not to have even remembered her), I was truly saddened. Posthumous albums can have various interpretations: commercial, commemorative, financial, incomplete works that deserved to see the light, image exploitation... So there will be both positive and negative comments (I hope not many) regarding this. Nevertheless, I personally always liked her proposal and especially her voice. Rest in peace, Valentina.
