How can you not appreciate "Cisco"? The arpeggio of Morse with an amazing sound, the stop and explosion of all four, especially Paice who drives like a madman? Alright, then there's Gillan who, with the little voice he has left, screams some random lyrics, but the piece is splendid! Dynamic, melodic... the best on the album after "Screaming."

Thank you, Zarathustra! Damn it, let's give Caesar what belongs to Caesar! If you have to mythologize someone, in this case it's better to fawn over poor Duane: he's the one playing the (his) riff in the song, Clapton provides the rhythm guitar and Duane, at a lower volume, does all the fills and embellishments under Clapton's vocals, as well as the slide in the piano outro...
An immortal piece... what really gets on my nerves is that Clapton then left Patty for that miserable Lori del Santo.

Hey guys! The riff of "Layla" was gifted to him by Duane Allman! And the piano "coda" is courtesy of the drummer in the Dominoes, Jim Gordon. Clapton had set Layla to a slow shuffle (as it appears on "unplugged") a beautiful piece but the genius was that other guy, who made him speed it up and added those 11 notes flipping it inside out! Clapton has a big heart, but he is NOT a great composer...
Donald Fagen Morph The Cat
Voto:
I bought the CD preconceived because the evolution of both Fagen and Steely Dan in a jazz-funky sense, greatly drying up the melodic openings that in the seventies and early eighties had been generously distributed, had placed me for many years in a state of confirmed esteem and admiration, but with relative emotion. Instead, "Morph," in addition to the usual incredible rhythmic groove, has once again irresistible harmonic sequences. In short, the finest work since the unattainable "Nightfly." Nectar for my brain:

Like most double albums, if the fillers had been discarded and some other excellent tracks sacrificed to fit the standard 40-50 minutes, we would have ended up with a true masterpiece: imagine a single "physical" laid out like this:
Side 1: Kashmir (what a start!)
The Rover
Trampled Underfoot
In My Time Of Dying (Bonzo, how we miss you!)
Side 2: Custard Pie
In The Light (without the intro)
Bron Y Our
Ten Years Gone
