Roy Buchanan Live In Japan 1978
Voto:
Roy Buchanan is the only guitarist I know who can give me chills through a Fender Telecaster, a rather tricky sound device to master. He's not my idol, but it's fair that I have loves like yours.

Thank you all. I have never seen or heard of any videos with Halsall playing, unfortunately. The website dedicated to Halsall is indeed excellent. The second time I saw Halsall (Tempest, Ancona, 1974), he came on stage first, all by himself, dressed in a light pink suit and pants, the jacket over his bare, hairy torso! With his guitar dangling, he went to the microphone, let out a curse in good Italian, turned the volume knob along with Hiseman and Clarke, and sent me and those three hundred people around me into a frenzy.

You're not entirely wrong, Velluto. Your form is obviously more than valid. The first one, on impulse, was for the judgments. I lived in Bologna from 1976 to 2005.

Bologna in the eighties was full of shitty bands that instead of learning to play, were struggling to come up with a ridiculous name and then drooling over their trashy lyrics, mostly in forced rhymes, whatever came to their minds. It was basically a local punk scene, with no artistic content, an attempt to stand out with minimal effort, which became a trend since Skiantos "made it." It was like participating in Big Brother; you have no particular talent, but in the meantime, you're in a vehicle for promotion, communication, idolization. Music is something else. Doing trash without knowing how to write or play is worth jack shit. Look at Elio, who knows how to play and knows how to write. Bah.

Everything you have written, I think too.

Nice review. I prefer Hysteria and also Adrenalize, where the sound is perfect, the Def Leppard style is well-defined, and the singer's voice, quite modest, has improved incredibly thanks to producer Mutt Lange. The Defs were over when their songwriter guitarist died.

I also agree that if sensitive souls are bothered by repetitive reviews, they should just not read them. Or they can stop after the first few lines when they realize the same points are being made (like how good Alan Parsons is with effects). It’s clear that when reviewing very famous works, one needs to try to say something original, either in substance or at least in form, to be gratified by the comments. And, of course, not to write nonsense, like the "Mason's ride" in "On The Run" (a charleston hit looped in 2/4), which shows superficiality. What bothers me are the rants, perhaps in all caps, from some exhibitionist who has time to waste or is carrying a load of frustrations, getting worked up over trivial things like this.

Thank you for the compliments, Guz. In "Poison Whiskey," Edward King plays all the guitars, so we can consider the three-guitar setup even on the first album. Also because Wilkenson had already joined the band, leaving temporarily—I don’t know why—right at the moment of recording. Hey! Ed King is the songwriter, the main rhythm guitarist, and the one who does the solos and fills in "Alabama," not just some fool!

I don't appreciate glowing reviews; I believe it's important to maintain at least a bit of perspective. It's not about Dylan (who means little to me), it's a general discussion. The best album I know focused on a marital separation is from 2002, it's called "Safety" and it’s by Ty Tabor.
