Gianna Nannini California
Voto:
She bought her career with daddy's money. Just like her brother, who chose racing, an environment where only the children of the rich can really succeed. This is not a fault, of course. There's nothing wrong with starting from a position of advantage, if you can. The problem is that Nannini is musically devoid of any talent. I can only acknowledge her grit. A voice more vulgar than hers, unpleasantly engaged in roccaccioni entirely under the care of her musician employees, or in those Italian operatic outings where her buzzingly emphatic style sends shivers down my spine and makes me scratch my head. A true symbol of mediocrity on stage, I would say that she and Jovanotti provoke me the greatest irritation, like successful donkeys.

Yes, there is an album by Daryl and Robert together. That I don't know.

Rick Wakeman 6 Wives of Henry VIII / Silent Nights
Voto:
Wakeman is a competent concert pianist, who reaches great heights when compared to the role of rock keyboardist. However, he is a weak composer, whereas he excels as an arranger. His early career was incredibly glamorous, as he inserted his romantic and agile piano into the records of David Bowie, Cat Stevens, and many others, providing a lovely additional color. Then, unfortunately, spurred by his success with Yes, he launched into a solo career that was pompous, vain, ostentatious, and self-indulgent. He lost all the money he earned with Yes, after which he moved on to a more intimate dimension, more suited to his talents and shortcomings. Listening to him at the piano is always a pleasure, and hearing him chat is enjoyable too, considering that he is also likable, straightforward, and ironic, with the courage of his convictions even when they are easily debatable. The highlight is when he talks about those pain-in-the-ass Anderson and Howe. This album is worth little; it’s a jumble of classical composers, a sterile progressive effort.
Strangeways Walk In The Fire
Voto:
Boring disc, the wrong AOR, anonymous and full of clichés, not as the reviewer says. I have it, I listen to it every once in a blue moon, and I can’t bring myself to give it away, maybe because it’s not easy to find. They don’t say anything to me, and to think that I have dozens and dozens of AOR records.
Talisman Talisman
Voto:
The worst album by the band, the only one that's inadequate. Anonymous sound, still not focused on that funky metal pop that will come later. Flat tracks that don’t stick in your head even after the fifth listen. Luckily, there will be another handful of great works after this one.

I find the title of this work to be the best definition of its author.
