I saw these guys live, even though I hardly knew anything about them. It was a tight concert, nice but nothing special, the same impression the band gave me. You explained yourself well, anyway.

Controversial content, but the review is really well written, and the Police are my idols. I would have loved to see them live.

Very inspired page...the title in question has always intrigued me, who knows, maybe one day I'll decide to read it.

Usually, I don't really enjoy reviews that just focus on the author's personal life, but I liked this one, and it reminded me of this book I read ages ago that I wouldn't mind revisiting.

A group I've always been divided on... I've listened to them but they've never really convinced me. Everything said in the review is true, they certainly have many merits, but they don't win me over. And what convinces me the least is their total lack of content. I've seen them live, even a pretty good concert, but the impressions I've had have always been the same. Beautiful, loud, but shockingly empty and dilapidated.

You’ve written a lengthy piece… anyway, I’ll try to share my thoughts. You’re quoting people from the extreme realm or those who made experimentation and/or avant-garde their craft, such as Neurosis, Faith No More, and even the Voivod, whom I know little about. Nobody denies that Anthrax wanted and could fill that role; it was just a different type of music. Their merit lies in having effectively carved out their own path in all of this, unlike the musicians of their generation (specifically the more obvious comparisons, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc.). And I wouldn't underestimate the idea behind Bring The Noise. I mean, I’m aware that there were people a hundred years ahead of time even before Sound Of White Noise was conceived, but that has nothing to do with it; we’re talking about completely different realms. You can’t place Anthrax and Faith No More from Angel Dust or even Neurosis on the same level.

The two albums you mentioned, which are excellent, are 1) previous works 2) do not contain any trace of renewal, so I don’t see why they should be compared, especially with Persistence Of Time, which has nothing to do with our discussion. You then mention Countdown To Extinction, but I still don’t see any innovation there. As for Alice In Chains and their contemporaries, it’s obvious that in the '90s they wrote fresher stuff than Anthrax, who were an '80s thrash band. None of the big names in thrash decided it was time to reinvent themselves (except, in a highly debatable way, Metallica), so I really don’t see that burden. Anthrax were brave, and the result, in my opinion, rewards them, unfortunately not the audience, but this should not in any way affect the judgment of the work, which to me is underrated, just as the fact that it was a thrash album and not a grunge album should not be a factor (during that period, Vulgar Display Of Power was also released, for example, so I don’t believe that a convincing release had to be grunge to be such).

So, I see that the audience here is also divided.. JURIX, I don’t know how Belladonna would handle pieces by Bush, so I think it’s a good thing for now that they mostly perform pieces from their early works.

@Meconio: this would be a shy response to the relentless change of times, and then you quote Mustaine, who perhaps has changed the least and has lived off "royalties" during those years? Then maybe you forget that the world is still divided over the Black Album, and especially about the highly debatable subsequent evolution of the Metallica themselves. You mention Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, both great in my opinion, but do you really want to compare artists from such different generations and backgrounds? I suggest you revisit the early work of Megadeth and Slayer, the first albums of Anthrax, and then tell me if you still consider this a timid response.
