Great intervention, deathinaugust. I’m even more extreme, though. In my opinion, everyone experiences this music individually, for their own reasons, finding within it the emotions and sensations that resonate with them. It’s true, as you say, that you need to be a bit "strange" (I wouldn’t say sociopathic, that’s excessive) to appreciate this music, but that doesn’t mean anything. Yes, I feel "different" from my peers, but 1) I don’t show it, 2) yes, I take pleasure in feeling "different." But this difference has nothing to do with the stereotypical nonsense mentioned before. Also, I repeat, here on this site, since we’re talking about music that is generally unknown to the MTV generation, we are ALL strange and we all feel a sort of inner enjoyment in elevating ourselves from the masses because we listen to music that we individually deem "quality." Anyone who denies this is a hypocrite. If you want to continue making "hhehehehehehehe loser ehehe you don’t wash ehehe kill yourself, sad sack," showing a maturity and intelligence of a playground bully in third grade, go ahead.

Hats off, de gustibus, etc... I acknowledge that xasthur has become ridiculous by releasing 3 albums a year, which are also quite ugly.
