Electric Wizard Witchcult Today

Last Wizard: I don't like it, it's bland and you have some really basic riffs, nothing like good old psychedelia (Supercoven), it's already bored me quite a bit. But apparently, everyone has gladly avoided the shameful riff aspect (because it really is, when it comes to EW), throwing out a thousand nonsense including Satan, witches, and 70s occult crap. If I wanted information on these things, I would buy some books, but since I want music and big riffs in the style of EW, I'm leaving this album on the shelf. I'm disappointed, period. @biro: you're right about everything regarding HOF, in fact, I only bought the first one and snubbed the later highly metal ones.

"The emergence of the island" is out of this world, it makes me daydream :D I agree with Fest, I don't see much original in it, aside from a few things, but some tracks are really beautiful. And I agree with caz as well, the split with Mammut has only a couple of nice pieces, but the rest kind of disappointed me, I expected more. Much better alone than with Mammut.

Everyone says it's amazing, but I like it very little... I’d say almost not at all, too many contaminations that ultimately leave me with no particular feeling. And then this post rock, post hardcore, I can’t stand it anymore; I’m already tired of it. Let's go back to doing some good old stoner doom and screw it!

2.5 to the review and 5 to the album.

But Dilibero and Bertinotti are at the head of what party, excuse me? I think the Communist Refoundation is in government, given that there are people saying that communists no longer exist... anyway, 5 without having read it just because you're anti-communist! And then iside, "cristo in minuscolo"... what did it do to you?

@Festwca: Let Us Prey, I wouldn't exactly call it a masterpiece. It's cute, yes, but it feels very incomplete and the sounds are truly terrible. A few tracks are decent, but overall it's a bit weak, definitely not like withcult though, which is really bad.

The YOBs are great, but I also find the post-metal aspect present in their albums a bit off-putting. I prefer the more genuine doom, less post. As for the new EW, I saw it today in at least two stores, and I gladly left it there; I'm disappointed with the last dreadfully boring album, lacking inspiration, too clean and not powerful enough. I don't think I'll pick it up, I'll stop at Dopethrone... the rest is on the decline, it's better to remain at the highest point of every artist's career!

Great album, Decimation drives me crazy! As for Witchcult Today by Electric Wizard, I've already listened to it 4 or 5 times, and I'm not very convinced; I'm quite disappointed, both with the guitar and drum sounds (very weak), and with certain riffs that seem uninspired and even trivial. Ultimately, the first 3 + the 2 EPs are unbeatable. It's wise to give it a listen before buying blindly, that's my heartfelt advice...

I fully agree, this album is an abortion, bought and resold after 2 listens 10 years ago.

Nothing special about TF, the usual clones from Northern Europe, but at least they are good. I confirm that Down III is amazing (someone write a worthy review before some idiot from this site starts writing nonsense) and that the new Hermano is immense crap, Garcia's voice no longer exists, a disgraceful album.
