The nice thing is that "Cannibal Holocaust" ('80) is not the only film of this kind; there’s an entire genre: the same director Ruggero Deodato had already made a similar film in '77 ("Ultimo Mondo Cannibale"). In '81, "Cannibal Ferox" was released, an almost-plagiarism by Umberto Lenzi, and then there were "Mangiati Vivi" (also by Lenzi), "La Montagna Del Dio Cannibale" (Sergio Martino), "Nudo E Selvaggio," and "Natura Contro." These are the ones I've seen, but there are surely others as well. There are many scenes of violence in the trash documentary series "Mondo Cane" by Jacopetti, too.

grandissimi Ventures, "walk don't run" is one of my favorite surf songs. Ah, March 5th is the day Belushi died (3/5/82)

there isn't a religion yet, but there is Towel Day: every May 25th, fans of Adams, as a sign of participation, walk around all day with a towel prominently displayed. There's also the website www.towelday.kojv.net

And Slartibartfast? And Hotblack Desiato (the leader of the rock group Disaster Area)? And Agrajag? Damn, what brilliance those books have, I read them again every so often and each time I laugh like an idiot. Adams was simply a genius! Anyway, great review and nice nickname.

I judge both. I listened to the album and it struck me as flat and predictable music (and the singer heavily draws inspiration from Robert Smith); if we add to this their religious mania (on the verge of typically American Christian fanaticism), it results in a truly bleak portrait. However, the review is well-written, even though I absolutely do not share the final judgment.

Great Gwar! Long live trash metal!

terrible. From the way you talk about them, they seem like papaboys with a weakness for Robert Smith.

axlspark, you say that because you probably have a very superficial understanding of the genre; people like Barrington Levy, Jimmy Cliff, or Linval Thompson deserve respect, they certainly weren't making "tunes"...

Beautiful, I really liked it; for some it recalls Lynch, a sort of Eraserhead "compressed" into 6 minutes with accompaniment by Aphex Twin. Unfortunately, I don't have the original, so I'm missing the booklet...
