Francis Ford Coppola Apocalypse Now

I also enjoy finding well-reviewed films, and in these cases, I can't help but leave a comment. What do you think of the Redux? In my opinion, the new version is inferior to the original; although some scenes have been added that are quite interesting (like "the surfing hunt," the tiger, or the episode with the bunnies), others (such as the part with the French colonists and the attached erotic/decadent scene) slow down the pace too much and break the action. And even the "new" ending doesn't hold up against the old one.

simply one of the greatest films of all time, unsurpassed and unbeatable. Coppola paints a Vietnam where Willard's hallucinatory journey is crafted like a passage through a kind of Dantesque hell, reaching its peak in the second part of the film, upon arriving in Kurtz's realm (where the stunning cinematography by the great Storaro also radically shifts in color tones). It would be worth watching just for Brando, who delivers an absolutely masterful performance, perhaps the greatest of his entire career. This is great cinema.

Nice review, but I've never appreciated the film all that much; I definitely prefer Cabal.
John Carpenter In The Mouth of Madness - Il Seme Della Follia

Dark Star is brilliant!!! Carpenter's answer to 2001! It shows that you don't need million-dollar budgets to make great films. Speaking of Lovecraft, has anyone seen the Italian "Road To Lovecraft"?

Unfortunately, I have also lost friends, and I prefer not to touch on that subject; as for the film, I don't dispute whether it's good or bad, stupid or intelligent, I just think it seems exaggerated to call it "a punch in the stomach," especially compared to other films that are much more "heavy" and credible.
Tobe Hooper The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Assuming that I consider your opinion more than legitimate, I ask you: who would you give a 5 to today? Anyway, among the sequels, Hooper only directed the second one (mediocre, although it has a few good moments), I haven't seen the others. The remake (like Aja's) is well made enough, but overall unnecessary.

too bright, too charming, too "positive"... I assure you that you’re talking to someone who knows the environment well; I've known and still know many addicts: and I'm not talking about young kids who get high every now and then, I’m talking about people at their last stage, people who spend their lives between prison and the sidewalk. You can’t expect that people living this life have the clean little face of Ewan McGregor who (it seems to me) can suddenly stop using with just a bit of cold sweat and some hallucinations. It simply doesn’t hold up. Then again, I repeat, the movie is nice and entertaining, very ironic. But zero realism.

The movie is fun and well-made, but it’s nothing more than a comedy (a bit youthful) and the characters are likable, but not at all believable as addicts, too posh. Much better are I Ragazzi Dello Zoo di Berlino, Requiem For A Dream, and Amore Tossico (which is the best!!!)

Cigarette Burns is stunning, definitely one of the best things he has done lately. And it’s also one of the best in the entire Masters of Horror series.

better Toxic Love, no doubt!
