I made a mistake in rating the film; in my opinion, it deserves a 4.

this movie is a blast, I prefer it to the previous Bad Taste (which is also beautifully gory). I found the Italian dubbing absolutely unbearable, in fact, I would love to see it in the original version sooner or later... mick7, I assume you also know the gems of the Cannibal genre, right? Because if not, you would have missed the most and the best.

Well, what can I say... I can only admire you a lot! Clearly, we both grew up with the same (sub)cultural background; Mago Pancione, the exogeni, Superclassifica Show, the Visitors, Supervicky, the Rotowash commercial, the Rockfeller puppet (I could go on for hours) are things that have deeply marked me (us). Today they may seem outdated or terribly kitsch, but they undoubtedly have a certain morbid charm for those who "experienced them live." As for the movie, it became famous for being one of the most colossal flops in cinema history: it cost an outrageous amount of money, made extensive use of special effects, and everyone went to the cinema with high expectations, only to be terribly disappointed (and angry) by what was advertised as "the new Star Wars," but was actually a trashy, absurd cartoonish mess; as a result, this film has remained famously (so to speak) one of the most universally hated/disdained of all time. Personally, I find it an absolute masterpiece, but I realize how difficult it may be for everyone to like it. Poletti, what does Mereghetti say about it? I'm sure he must have loved it a lot...

Saw it yesterday: I really liked it, excellent film and great actors (except for the actor who plays the writer Sebastian Koch, truly too monotone!), compelling story and beautiful cinematography with cold grey tones effectively highlighting the dark and oppressive atmosphere of the regime. It indeed has some similarities with the film "The Conversation," especially regarding the figure of the spy and his gradual transformation: both characters are initially dutiful and efficient, only to undergo (overcome by remorse) a "crisis of conscience" that leads them to become victims of the mechanism they were part of. But while Coppola's film was more focused on the protagonist's increasing paranoia, emphasizing the psychological aspect, here more emphasis was placed on the drama and (of course) on the historical reconstruction.

I didn’t see him, but I think it was better this way.

great character, even though I don’t think she was 100% original… wasn’t there already a very similar woman who presented horror movies on TV in America in the '50s? I believe that ā€œoriginalā€ one even filed a plagiarism lawsuit against Elvira…

@psycho: I can't disagree with you (especially about the chili episode you mentioned, definitely one of my favorites from the mysteries), but I also can’t help but notice that the average level of the recent seasons of The Simpsons is in freefall. Then again, as I said before, I agree that cynicism and vulgarity for the sake of it are flaws often found in South Park, but there are sometimes certain insights, certain gags that absolutely make me collapse with laughter, which hasn't happened to me with The Simpsons in a long time. And these "highs" for me more than compensate for the "lows" of the series.
