Cameron would be considered a very modest director if he hadn't made those three blockbuster films (Terminator, Aliens, and Abyss). The rest of his work is rubbish, but those 3 films... Aliens is phenomenal, I might even prefer it to Scott's original. @Bjork: get it as soon as possible and get ready for some great laughs, it's hilarious (but it's not trash!). Star Wars has never appealed to me either.

If you say that in some Clash songs there are things that refer more or less to the Ramones (just in the first album), I'm fine with that, but if you say, "without the Ramones, the Clash probably wouldn't have even existed... theirs was almost plagiarism of Johnny and the gang," then no. One thing is being partially influenced, another is plagiarizing. You also say that from London Calling onwards they revolutionized their sound, so even more so it can't be said that they copied. And, as Sorciopeloso says, their early phase was more inspired by the Sex Pistols and the Damned than by the Ramones.

Yes, to see science fiction "ennobled" in the eyes of the general public, one must wait at least until 2001 and Solaris (even though many steps forward had already been made thanks to "The Twilight Zone"), while the true breakthrough will occur with films like Star Wars, Blade Runner, etc. This does not take away from the fact that Corman and Siegel, whether it's B-movie or A-movie, have made a fundamental contribution to the genre.
