I stopped at Blissard... did I miss something?
The Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin

I find the orchestral pop of their last 3 albums unbearable. However, the review is quite captivating.
Ethan e Joel Coen L'uomo Che Non C'Era (The Man Who Wasn't There)
Voto:
Personally, I consider it one of the best (if not THE best) of the Coens, light years away from the disappointing previous film (O Brother, Where Art Thou?): a tribute that is also a reinterpretation and updating of the classic noir of Chandler and Cain. But it’s also an homage to cinema itself, cinema with a capital C: the spectacular cinematography alone (Roger Deakins is a god) is capable of enhancing cigarette smoke or a reflection on glass, arranging lights, shadows, and angles with an absolutely extraordinary class. But there’s much more—the perfect screenplay (the usual grotesque touches and some surreal-dreamlike inserts are present, albeit in lesser amounts), truly amazing actors (notably, of course, Billy Bob Thornton), and an exceptional characterization of the characters (even the secondary ones). In short, a masterpiece.
Ministry Cover Up
Voto:
I generally don't mind cover albums, and this one is quite good. Besides the already known Supernaut and Lay Lady Lay, my favorites are Under My Thumb (with the guy from Fear Factory on vocals) and Just Got Paid; and it's a blast to hear Jourgensen tackling What A Wonderful World…
James Mangold Walk The Line

Shameful: this piece of crap movie turns Johnny Cash's life into a soap opera.

Great review, a perfectly fitting description of the album.

this instead, I don’t know... I just can’t bring myself to like it. I’m going back to listening to Lysol.

I finally listened to Flood: it really has nothing to do with Absolutego, and that's a good thing, but it didn't excite me very much. I quite like the second and third parts, where ambient, drone, and psychedelia intertwine, much less the beginning and the end (rather than hypnotic, I would say they are soporific).
The Flaming Lips Transmissions From The Satellite Heart

I got to know the Flaming Lips when this album came out: I still remember being blown away by She Don't Use Jelly, which had a (very very nineties) music video that enjoyed some sporadic airplay on Video Music. Overall, it's not a masterpiece, but it contains some truly memorable songs. I completely agree with those who unfortunately consider it their last truly valid album.

Oh my God, I didn't know they made an appearance in BeverlyHoles...
