@Grant: I’m sorry for offending you, I didn’t mean to be a pain in the ass; but the fact that you mention Finck referring to him as just an ex-G'N'R and then, from what you wrote, you seem surprised by the radio-friendly cut of The Hand (as if NIN had never had radio-friendly tracks), made me suspect that you weren’t familiar with the old albums (and in any case, even if that were true, it wouldn’t be a crime, would it?). Then again, regarding the album, we see it very differently: in Slip, I just can’t find anything good (apart from the free distribution), the songs seem like scraps from the two previous albums and in fact, I find it a big step back from With Teeth and Year Zero (which, even if they’re certainly not masterpieces, I still liked), since at least there were some noteworthy tracks on those.

Roky Erickson is my hero, and he has made great records even as a solo artist (after the "treatment").

Total disappointment; compared to this, With Teeth (<<annoying plastic taste>>???) seems like a masterpiece... I think Discipline can be considered the ugliest single in NIN history, truly embarrassing, not to mention The Hand That Feeds (which undeniably has a dance component, but at least live proves to be a great song). They've always had radio-friendly tracks (Head Like a Hole, Wish, Closer, Hurt, etc. what are those?). <<it settles on levels that are more than respectable>> well, that depends on what your "quality standards" are: if you're familiar with the old NIN records (and it seems you aren't), you certainly can't consider this "more than respectable"; especially since Robin Finck has returned (probably the best guitarist NIN have ever had in their lineup), it seemed reasonable to expect something more, instead... sorry, but I really didn't like the review.

@zannab: but you've seen some American movies where the main characters go to Tijuana in search of tequila, grass, and senioritas, haven’t you?

But how, it seems to me that Switzerland for a while now is no longer the place to be high... am I wrong?

Last year, some of my friends went to Tijuana, and instead of the cradle of vice, they described it to me as a sort of super-amusement park for Americans (mostly college students)... let's say it was shabby rather than transgressive (they, of course, had a great time, making the most of ALL the attractions available).

(for me they are) totally unbearable. And the singer has one of the most annoying voices I've ever heard.

Good job, Zu, even though I'm certainly not a fan of jazzcore; Teatro instead doesn't do anything for me: sure, they’re all great musicians, but their blend of Jesus Lizard - Shellac - Birthday Party seems quite predictable to me. I still much prefer One Dimensional Man.
