beautiful; in my opinion it's their absolute masterpiece... rap, funky, rock, punk, this is what you call crossover (and there are the most beautiful instrumental tracks of their career)

@tomgil: the fact that the film was used for a lesson is really a very positive thing; it proves that there are still some university professors with a bit of common sense. Personally, I believe it should be screened in schools. @muito: really? I think you’re right, but thinking about it, "precipitously," "hastily," "obtusely," "hypocritically" could have worked as well...

Among all his masterpieces, this is not my favorite, but it's still a great film.

Thank you all for the comments. The film was widely discussed (positively) last year when it premiered in Venice, but then it was completely forgotten. And it was to be expected, given the subject matter: a war-genocide that has been going on for 5 years now, which is estimated to have caused 1-2 million deaths, and of which, apart from the lies shoved down our throats by our leaders, we know N-O-T-H-I-N-G. De Palma used the only "uncensored" source of information, namely the Internet, blogs, and YouTube videos posted by both U.S. soldiers and Iraqi fighters: to get an idea of what’s happening over there, try searching "iraq marine kill bomb sniper" on YouTube (and it’s curious to note how abundant are the videos of marines killing/bombing/massacring Iraqis, while those from the other side, numerous as well, are constantly being blocked or removed). This film tells the war from a unique perspective, because today there are no other ways to depict it realistically.

I wanted to say "the successful film adaptations of Dick's books are really few."

Yes, when it comes to Tom Cruise, it's better to keep it quiet. The fact that in MR the screenplay sucks, while the cinematography and effects are undoubtedly great, makes me even angrier with Spielberg (whom I will never forgive for ruining a potential Kubrickian masterpiece like A.I.). Anyway, it’s true that there are very few film adaptations of Dick's books: among the latest, I really liked A Scanner Darkly, though I won't express my opinion on it since I haven't read the novel.

But then it's true that tribute bands are on the rise... damn, in the last two months I've found myself (against my will) listening to tribute bands of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and (even) Europe: we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel! Sometimes it's nice to get drunk listening to some classic live tunes, but in the long run, it's a deadly boredom.
