@portofolio: the song you're talking about is probably "Club Foot" (soundtrack of the movie "GOAL" from 2005)...or maybe it's the other single "LSF"...who knows!

I'm hearing it now... it's not bad, actually! But they could avoid trashing Indie-Rock... honestly, they don't even know where it lives!!!

Well done, well done! I don't have this collection; one of the few things by The Cure that I'm missing! I do have Join the Dots that Reverse talks about... I recommend it, there are must-have gems!!!

If in the past it was like this or not... we could discuss it endlessly (and honestly, I don't feel like it!). That American Idiot is better for you than these "little ones" is completely respectable; it's all about TASTES... but, I repeat, you can't tell me that the Strokes are manufactured and then compare them to Green Day... anyone here would argue against that!!! That said, your opinions are more than respectable... ;)))

Sorry rebelde, but your speech seems to fit the Green Day better than the Strokes... just look at the last album by "giorno verde." Absolutely subpar, yet they pulled out, if I'm not mistaken, a whopping 4 singles... So the wealthy record label must have Billie Joe & Co.'s phone number as well.

@joker, I completely agree with you when you describe the current media/music industry landscape. However, I don't believe that the Strokes fit into this case at all. I think your argument is valid for people like Britney Spears, Rihanna, and the like! But the Strokes, Kasabian, Interpol... they simply try to reinterpret (often with questionable results) the '80s sound, new wave, adding various nuances... OK, they often copy, but I wouldn't say that it's all meticulously planned. If you're referring to the usual two catchiest singles that every album has, arranged to sell... well, you're right, but that's always existed, since the times of the Beatles... Then it's logical that everyone is free to think and judge as they wish...
Cheers!
