I reworked "Becoming" into an acoustic version to serenade a girl... yeah, basically to win her over, but she didn't budge.

For those who just connected, let us remind you that the solo referred to by ICNARF is "Floods."

Ahah, so listen to "Beg To Differ" by Prong... now that’s where you’ll hear an insane (in a negative way, huh) drum sound, overhyped and really rough... but hey, it's a 20-year-old album! Then you explain to me how you can listen to "Enter Sandman" and "Sad But True" in sequence without puking... Back to Pantera, I've slightly reassessed "The Great.." negatively because next to masterpieces like "Sandblasted Skin," "The Underground In America," etc., there are some tracks that are just kind of whatever, like "13 Steps..," "Suicide Note Pt.2," and even "Drag The Waters," which don't excite me. On the other hand, I’m totally into that boulder of "Reinventing The Steel"... another semi-masterpiece (underrated)!

Dude, we think the same way. I'm not crazy about "CFH" either because I find it a hybrid between what metal was in the '80s (with high notes and various screams) and what it will be in the '90s, with much more compressed guitar sounds, etc. "Far Beyond Driven" is a punch in the face (or a missile up the ass, depending on your taste), with the first part grabbing you quickly, and the second with slightly more structured and elaborate songs, and this makes that album still (almost) a masterpiece even after 15 years.

The Pantera always spark discussions, as I see. Even if the conversation has shifted to other (very distant) shores! @CptGaio: please specify the release date of the new Maiden. P.S. Black people have rhythm in their blood.

In the years 92/94, Pantera made no prisoners. They were among the true dominators alongside very few others. The intensity of their concerts during those years is something unimaginable, even though Phil often stepped onto the stage drunk or completely out of it. The DVD "3 Vulgar Videos From Hell" is highly recommended to understand what kind of life they were leading. Honor to these heavyweights of metal.

Beautiful review from Sunday morning. I haven't listened to the album in a while, but now with your fresh and enjoyable writing, I'm going to pick it up again (if only I had 5 euros and 90 cents!).

@Hell: we were just joking, I thought it was clear. This comes from someone who has about 150 gigs of mp3s (some of which I’ve never listened to), even though I try to avoid the devilish cycle of: download - listen - judge - archive and then again: download - listen etc. If I really like an album, I buy it on vinyl like a true enthusiast. @Michoos: let me know what you think of Astrosoniq. I think they’re more than good, derivative for sure, but varied enough and they hold up well over time.
