Just by listening to "Broadway" I get goosebumps.... how the hell can they say that they can't play! I don't get it!

I also apologize to The Clash for the comments unrelated to the album in question, but it was to try to humbly put an end to this Holy War, as Pretty has defined it, which is rather unedifying.

So, Dave, the fact that you consider it unnecessary to listen to anything that comes after '77 is your choice that everyone must respect but not necessarily share. I don’t know what happened in that Radiohead review, but know that if you were there to say they’re crap, I disagree. The Bends and OK Computer are two beautiful albums, and it doesn’t matter if they don't belong to the more noble subgenre of rock history, whatever that is. If they insulted you, forget it and keep thinking as you like. I don’t know what to tell you, Dave, except that you shouldn’t fall into these traps that we’ve all fallen into one way or another: the traps of generalization, of carelessness. Anyway, for me, the discussion ends here. Amen.

I understand your point of view, my lord, and I partly share it, but there are many things we ignore precisely because in this shitty society it’s convenient to showcase the most damaging and vulgar side of music. There are artists today making good music; it’s just up to us to discover them on our own. Now we have the internet, a great opportunity, don’t you think, to open new musical horizons? You’re young, probably in your twenties, but you don't know what it meant when I was your age to not have the internet and to have only the controlled information from the media. Tons and tons of crap, then as now. You got to know good music through (true) friends; otherwise, you had to fend for yourself, and records, my dear, cost a lot even back then. peace and love

I add, Dave and Lord, that I too, like you, consider prog the highest expression of rock, but this is my personal opinion and does not imply that I consider everything else contemptible. And now peace & love to everyone.

Dave and Lord, excuse me for saying this without offense; I find you both very likable and I appreciate your tastes, but as a prog enthusiast, I am somewhat disconcerted by your statements. First of all, be careful about what you say, such as that rock is dead since '77 and other stale clichés. Then people think that all of us who are passionate about the genre think the same way. For me, that's not the case; I don't want to come across as narrow-minded. It's true that I prefer the music from the late '60s to the early '70s, but I also love The Clash, for example, as I loved U2 in the early '80s or The Police and others I don't feel like mentioning right now. Prog has enough detractors; don't perpetuate false labels that we don't deserve. Moreover, as an anonymous person said, Jones, it is a shame what the discussion about this immense masterpiece of Italian musical history has turned into. Nothing substantial has been said, just base discussions that lead nowhere. This album, these artists, and also this reviewer deserved more respect.
@ The Clash: you are an example here on Debaser of a bit of mental flexibility; you wrote a nice review, and also, compliments on the nickname!

Crazy stuff, no one comes here!!! A magnificent album, a band of incomparable skill and class. How they could sell so few records remains a mystery to me. It's something I just can't wrap my head around. But what's the point in talking about it, since no one comes here anyway.

lestobang I listened to the album in question. I must say I thought you were exaggerating as usual but...... I just couldn't get past the second track. Truly laxative, straight out of the geriatric ward. Christ, the latest Rolling Stones is so much better. I give it a 2 because a 1 is reserved for crap but....
