I have to be honest (thus admitting my own ignorance) several of the bands you've mentioned, I don't know. However, I've heard quite a bit about Earth, and in my humble opinion, they have little in common with Solitude Aeternus. Earth is much more "extreme" and "intellectual" compared to Solitude, who, for their part, have a decidedly heavier and more classic approach.

ale9t0 they have never had serious lapses in style, so if you want to listen to them you might as well start from the beginning and follow them along. In my opinion, the two best albums remain beyond the crimson horizon and downfall.
