Monstrous sh*t. Recorded in a way that's nothing short of terrible and sung even worse...
Anathema Weather Systems

Interesting album, no doubt about it. Very deep, perhaps too much, it’s starting to give me the impression that they’re playing a bit with this story of "pain." Everything is well done, emotionally perfect and touching, and some pieces are truly captivating ("Untouchable II," "Lightning song," "Sunlight," "The storm before the calm," and "The beginning and the end"). It’s also true, however, that the system of "vocal repetitions" and the crescendo of the songs in the second part is starting to get tiresome… As for the influences: in "Weather systems," I hear two bands in particular, Sigur Ros and Coldplay… You can clearly understand which of the two is a bad sign… Anathema now need to start choosing which path to take, whether it’s post-rock or pop-rock… I have the impression they’re about to embark on the latter…

Well-written review, but I don't agree with any of the judgment on the album. In Opeth's career, there has always been "evolution," and sooner or later, a work like this was to be expected, which, in fact, is a great example of '70s prog rock influenced by a truly remarkable modernity of sounds. Expecting more "Morningrise" is pure science fiction.
